250-500cc Will a WR 360 engine fit in a current WR 250/300 frame?

Just curious if this can be, or has been, done w/little or no frame modification. Just thinking this might be a fun upgrade. When are the real big bore 2-smokers going to make a comeback?

Yes, it will. I have a 360 motor on it's way to me now and that's what I plan to do with it.

BTW- I think there is another thread about this same topic.

Here are a few pictures of SEB's 2011 WR350 as it was called. Pretty much a 360 motor in a 2011 WR. Never did find any good shots of just the bike.

So the motor mounts all line up for the 360 motor?

Any idea whether a 2t conversion will work in a TE/TXC frame??????? of a frame for a 2008 or a 2013, I have both year frames 4t with dead engines...

Not without a frame mod? 4T frames will require the downtube from the the headstem to modified to allow the 2t pipe to exit.

the 2 stroke is based on an early Cagiva engine
the 4 stroke years you refer to was a new from scratch engine, sprocket on the left, they share pretty much a name and a few bolt on parts, forks and stuff that's not specific
hope that helps to understand the adaptability
but the 250/300 shares a basic case design

Yeah so nothing would be straightforward.
So sounds like if I had a wr frame and a wr engine and airbox, even then I may not be able to use the rest of the te/txc, apart from swingarm tripleclamps tank, plastics etc.

I am having an issue trying to source another 4t 310 motor red head 2013 and the the price for parts is sky high, there are very limited aftermarket parts for the red one, to the point that the required parts are around 3500Aud 2700USD for rebuild parts.
Trying to look and consider all options, at least it is cheaper to rebuild a 2T.

However even finding an earlier 4t TE motor from say 2010 seems to be the same as there is a variance with the pipe height, which probably leads to, need frame or may need to weld pipe bracket hole, airbox different? frame different? etc etc.

Why not using a 125 Engine? they got the chain on the left, you can go 165cc and they might even fit into your frame without major mods

    many. i'm addicted.

cut the motor mounts off, weld new mounts on to suit a 2T? along with a right drive swingarm/caliper/etc?
i'm not sure if the swingarm would fit, but if you're already welding mounts, doing a little machining isn't that hard :D

i thought about this very thing, briefly, as there was a plated TE near me without a motor... can't easily plate the 2T bikes... so a bit of a swaparoo and i'd be a hooliganizing the streets in smoky glory! then i remembered i have too many projects already and i'd never get anywhere with it past dragging it home...

Ive seen a 360 motor in a 125 frame - didn't work that well apparently
A 250 motor in the newer 125 frame would be interesting but then again not that much different to a WR 250 ...

the motor bolts in. been done on here many times, just have to use the bikes 360 airboot and maybe a few other things. the engines changed very little. the only thing i notice between my 95 and the newer ones is the way different powervalve. everything else looks really close. the older engines all had windowed clutch covers too, before husky cheaped out.

I've got a shiny new set of 7602 covers to solve that problem, but haven't put them on yet. I guess I'm afraid of letting them look abused.
