Anyone know if the 12L tank from an '01 Husqvarna 360 will fit an '07 WR250?
If so, any other mods required? Will the rad shrouds fit the new tank?

Sorry, the '01 tank will not fit the '07 unless you change the tank bolt mount.

The '07 tank bolts to a post that is welded to the frame ahead of where the '01 tank attaches to the frame. You would have to remove this post to mount an '01 tank and if you did your seat and side panels won't align correctly as the '01 has a different sub-frame to the '07.

Thanks for the heads up gem.
Would any of the older, larger tanks fit the 07 WR250?

    Arp,

I converted my 06 WR 250 to the 2000-2004 tank, plastic shrouds, and seat. To do this you have to cut off the current post like Gem said and remove the rubber mounts that secure the front of the tank. Your frame still has the threaded bolt hole for the old style tank so all you need to do is get some foam pipe insulation for 2" pipe and wrap the 8" or so of the back bone that the tank will ride on. Buy the appropriate tank shrouds and seat and the rest bolts right up. It is a significant improvement over the current setup. Holds more gas and carries it lower and also the seat height is about 1/2" lower.

    Thanks Walt.
Not sure if thats in the budget after the re-build but it would be nice. Do I need new plastic side number plates too or will the originals fit?
Whats the advantage going this way instead of just buying the IMS 3.4 gal or is there an advantage?

    Arp,

I honestly can't remember on the side panels, I think you will probably need those too but I am not sure. The biggest advantage is the way it carries the gas. Much lower which helps lower the entire bikes center of gravity. It is also a much slimmer fit than any of the IMS designs for the newer huskies. The seat will be the hardest find. I found one on fleabay for $25 and jumped on it. I don't know if it is worth it if you have to pay a premium for all the parts but if you find a steal then go for it.

You could always look for a frame (or a wrecked bike) from an 01 - 04 bike. The subframe is the same and the frame is pretty much identical apart from the tank post location.
