Great suspension, great motor, dated frame and no electic leg. All in all a great bike but could use an update.

I thought the same thing when i tried a new WR300. Yeah the motor is different but the rest of the package feels better too. Especially the way it turns. The new forks brought some geometry changes i think.

Yeh i agree. having a bit of trouble sorting the setting for the suspension thou.. Cant feel what its' doin... any one out there got some settings to try.. Not sure wether to go harder on Comp or twiddle the rebound. The bike is pounding me when i pick up the pace. How long do these things need to bed in..
One great thin thou it turns on a dime. moves well with pressure on the pegs.

Congrats. I haven't had a chance to ride one but they are great looking bikes and built to take it from what I read, enjoy.

Spring rates on these can be funky at best. Get the right springs for your riding weight and type and then the tuning can begin.

maybe 2-4 hours- then, replace the fluids and get things totally spotless inside, hot soap and water works a treat. Marz can be contacted directly for tips and tricks and they are super nice and helpful. I've contacted them lots on the 50's and mtn bike forks as well. i always get speedy replys to my e-mails and calls. best to start over with propper fluid heights and fresh uncontam fluids then reassess. ask them for the propper oil heights/qty and any bleedig tips, prelaod etc.

springs hold the bike up. dampers control wheel speeds. suspension is plushest in the first third of travel. harsness can be caused by going to far in the stroke and hitting a wall/spike (soft springs, not enough comp damp initial, etc). ask them for aprox static sag on the fork, i think it's 40mm or thereabouts, dont quote me there. like the rear, set the sag then reassess your dampers after the thing is broken in and serviced. i prefer a little stiffer spring than most so it dont dive and stays in the sweet spot and dont wallow in whoops or on steep downhills.

Static sag set at 1 1/4 inches. Too much causes wallow and hunt, too little causes bouncy problems going uphill on rocky technical.

    Old Style Husaberg,
Just asking of course; What is it specifically about the WR 250 or Wr300 frames that is dated? I have a number of Husky WR's and except for the date they were made they haven't changed very much. The 300WR is amazing, by far the best bike for your buck made today and yet what's up with 50zokes and frame criticism's your hearing all the time? Anyway i'm glad you like the 300, so much fun it will make you a hero in that little bubble around your bike and you.

my 07 TC and my 09 WR125 are like two kids from diff fathers with the same mother. i've ridden older 2T with "this" (sorta) frame too....

the 07 is like an old shoe. super comfy and forgiving. i can steer it from the backseat and just motor all over the place and make great time.
does all the work for me. i really like this set up.

the 09 like's to be pushed and pushed hard. it likes the whip and laughs at you for going there. the harder you push on the 09 the faster you go. it's tight and RIGID, light with a 50mm fork . bring yer A game, elbows out and head over the bar. crack it, HARD. it likes it. (not sure if that helps but...)

everyone complains about forks and shocks and....no one maker can please everyone with initial settings. even more so today. there is SO much wheel travle now there's initial, mid and final. i've only found one f/r damper that pleases me out of the box- 2003 CR250R, with one step factory lighter springs. great for track and offroad. the rest needed tweaking. get past the tweaking and the chassis traits come out when you push it because now you are not fighting it, yer riding it- HARD and in control.

before it was just BAD, w/ 4" of crush before it came back up and popped you in the tookus.

    what does this all mean??

This all sound pretty funky and all, but how do i convert that info to what i ride like..! How will i know if the frame is dated, or even not working properly for that matter... Not trying to be a smart arse.... God I have enough issue trying to figure out the clicky things on the bouncie bits...LOL. OMG... Of course there is jetting as well.. Comon you experts do us a favour and do the thinking for me... All i wanna do is go riding as fast as I can! and not end up as road kill on a trees bark.

    Ahha found the setting

Well went to Gembrook tonight in an effort to find the sweet spot for the suspension..Well waddya know it was the std settings plus 2 on the High speed.. Although i need to put it thru a bit harder type terrain. I think it is pretty well the std setting that gave me the best feel. Going out tomorrow night same place, this time i see if it works in the wet. Am expecting rain... lets see how it handles the slippery tree roots.
