I just P/U a 06 WR 250 and will order a 3.9 gallon IMS tank, was wondering if anyone has one and what color did you go with. I was leaning towards the white, but the fading warning has made me go to the Black.

    JZEE,

I bought the 3.9 with the clear color and had no problems, but I couldn't get rid of it fast enough. Visualize riding a propane tank. It is that wide and carries all the weight that high. I have had a 3.4 gallon IMS on my WR360 for a couple of years now and really like it with absolutely no problems.

I would sudgest you at least look at one in the flesh before you order or try the smaller 3.4 gallon or the Clarke as I have heard that it has a much slimmer shape. I converted my 06 WR250 to 04 plastic and tank. It is much slimmer, carries 2.9 gallons, and the 04 seat reduced seat height by about an inch. This is a somewhat costly conversion, but I like my 06 a lot better with this setup even if it doesn't look as modern.

    Hope that helps,
    Walt

I have the 3.9 IMS that I share between my TE-510 and WR-250. Nice that one tank fits both bikes. I only put on for the long distance runs.
Yes it is huge, works great for those very long runs however I would go with the smaller IMS or Clarke if using every day.

I should have asked this in the original post. What king of mileage do you get??? I would get 55-65 out of my 2002 640e, and I get about 45-50 out of my uncorked 08 Te 610. This is my first 2 smoker in many years. What kinda of range will I get out of the stock 2.5? *(80-100) I will ride it for the first time this weekend on a 240 mile loop. with fuel stops in the 55 to 85 mile range, with the stock tank. I would say fairly aggressive riding.

IMHO 85 miles you might be walking, I would not ask more than 60 from my stock tank, however that is tight PA woods and mountains.
