250-500cc WR 250 transmission oil

Hi guys I was wondering what oil you are runing, I bought a new 2011 and It seems to have alot of clutch drag and is noisy in idle.

Been using this since my first rekluse. Thinking about trying the 5w40rotella synthetic sinc I have a quart laying around.

Anybody ever used ATF? I'm curious as to the performance.

I used it in my old KX and my daughters KTM 85 (winter only, summer I use rotella) with zero problems, I just changed it after every ride (1.5-6hrs). I tried it in my WR, but it didn't like it. Felt clunky, I have a little drag with rotella but I can handle that.

I've used ATF+4 and it worked pretty good but the Rotella seem to make the clutch a little smoother feeling. I looked up the specs on ATF+4 O'Reilly brand and it was 25 weight if rated like gear oil and the 15w40 Rotella was 50 weight which is what Husky calls for, besides that I always have gallons of it on hand since I use it in my diesel truck and bulldozer. I even use it in my Honda Rancher utility 4 wheeler.

I had a lot of clutch drag with regular motor oil. Mobil synthetic seems to make my clutch much happier.

I am now using Castrol Actevo Xtra 4T 10w40, part synthetic.
A little clutch drag when cold, but doesn't need a lot of warm-up to go away.

Royal Purple 0-40. Only have a couple of rides on it, but my transmission seems to like it.

Castrol MTX, have tried ATF a few time but it seems to thin out a little too quickly but it was better shifting wise. We don't get that type of rotella (diesel oil yeah?) in Australia.

If you have severe clutch drag, l'd be inspect the clutch plates and basket for notches - notched clutch basket causes the clutch plates to bind. Also, the cable could be stretched resulting in the basket just disengaging so check the cable and adjust.

I was using the Castrol Power RS Racing 4T 5w40 for the last couple of years and really liked it. Problem was it was hard to get, so I gave the Royal Purple a try.

Is it Purple? Just bustin your chops! I'll have to try it since it is readily available up in my area.

I run my clutch with hardly any free play. I had to play with internal & lever adjuster to get it to its best
Also run chain a little looser than norm as well

Is the internal part easy to adjust?

Nope.

Same here, it's everywhere now and we have had good results with their products at work. I also know a couple of guys that are running RP in their trucks and claim decent MPG increases. ?????
