Hi all, new to this forum and new to husqvarna bikes.
    I recently bought a 2011 WR 300.
Was loving riding the bike until the common issue of the gear changing issue popped up and put me out of action on dirt biking road trip with friends.

I quickly found information about the problem and was able to fix it today.

I am wondering if there are any other common problems that occur with this model of bike?
If so I would like to rectify them before I end up stranded again.

    Any information is appreciated

    Thanks

There aren't many, but hat's one of the problems and you got it fix. The other that has happened to some, is the the failure of the Ducati ignition. The only real fix right now is either replace it or install an analog ignition from an earlier bike.

This is the link i found.

There is a small shaft/bolt that the shift star sits on and from the info I found it is quite common for it to come loose like mine did.
Reasonably easily fixed with a couple of hours and some red loctite

How old was your bike when this happened?

I'm also not familiar with a gear change issue on the bike. Could you elaborate on what failed?

I have older bike, but didn't the newer ones have some that the reed block could leak air and lean down?

Yes, seal the reed manifold, and also a good idea to run the JD kit in the OEM carburetor.

    Some common issues/mods: http://www.cafehusky.com/threads/2011-wr300-bomb-proof-mods.29288/

There aren't really that many "problems." There are a few things that lots of guys modify/replace:

-Carb (rejet or swap to PWK)
    -Suspension (revalve)
    -Protection (skidplate, rad guards, etc)
    -Thermostat (remove)

The bikes are pretty simple and pretty darn reliable.

I don't think that the Ducati ignition is a common enough failure to warrant a full replacement as preventative maintenance.

If you're talking about the ignition failure, it hasn't happened to my bike, yet. I'm worried though, because it has been getting difficult to start.

Theres a mid 90's husky cr250 motor in my dealer (they havent changed since oh '91) with a plaque that says a "approximately 22,000 miles on this engine"

seriously...only problem your going to have is watching it go from pretty new bike to scratched and worn looking.

Add to list: Spark arrestor replacement. I now have 27 hours on her and it was time to repack. Look at the design in the manual. How in the hell are you supposed to fish out all the packing IF you even get it apart? It is not like a Japanese OEM or FMF or PC where the stinger is attached to the perforated core. I have pounded and pounded and inserted screwdrivers in to break the O ring and it ain't budging. Rear end cap won't come off either so my attempt at pulling out the Krizzman sparky to get to packing also failed. :banghead:

Spotted a Leo Vince X3 here for $135 which I'll prolly get.

Now I have a knocking/clicking noise at about mid range at low acceleration.
I just sealed up the reeds and same noise still exists.
Is there any way I could have done something wrong when putting the left casing back when i fixed the gear change issue?
I thought maybe something to do with the power valve mechanism inside the casing.

Have done. Need to use more. The aluminum casing takes a good while to get hot. Even when open though how do you dig out packing when perf core separates from stinger? Seems you'd hafta remove Krizzman S/A and then push it all out from rear?
