    Hey guys,

finally putting my bike back together, needed up receiving a 300 kit and a lectern carby!

The bike is at the mechanics still, he assembled the power valve and has installed the new cylinder piston and rings. All thats left is to put the head on, however he believes the old head bolts are over stretched and the rubber washers are missing on most.

Now i rang my local dealers and the bolts are a ridiculous $11.50 each and the washers an even worse $21.40 each! keep in mind i need 6 of each!

Now could i just buy generic bolts of the right thread pitch from the local bolt store and use those ($1.00 each)?

Also the part number for the 300 head bolt washers (8B0064988) lists them as a copper washer? can anyone confirm this? and if they are a copper washer is there anything special about them? can i just get generic copper washers?

If anyone has the pictures of the washers and measurements of the bolts i would be really grateful!

Where are you located? Your local dealers are screwing you. Halls Cycles lists the washers (8B00 64988) at $5.99 each. Still not dirt cheap, but 1/4 the cost you've been quoted!

Why does the mechanic think that the bolts are stretched?

I'm in Australia mate, and I've checked halls out and noticed the price difference. However I want the parts yesterday and it'll take over a week to get here from the states.

Surely theres nothing to special about the bolts and washers.
