I was wondering if whether or not the engine will fit in the new frame? Thanks in advance.

    TC30,

I don't think they have changed the frame at all as far as the motor position. The cases should still be the same mounting wise and it should slip right in. You will need to swap out the head mount brackets with the 360 brackets.

Thanks a lot Walt. I was just thinking about making a conversion bike much like the Service Honda Cr 500's. Thanks again.

It would be a lot less work than what SERVICE HONDA has to go through.

Just another one of the many things I love about this platform. I'll say it again, I think this is the best value in offroad motorcycling out there. I hate to see them screw it up.

Does anybody know if a 360cc engine would fit in a '99 125 frame?
Been thinkin about it for a while!
Or even a '98 250cc engine for that matter...

    Thx!

I've been flirting with the idea of a WR360 motor in a WR250 frame...didn't you do this Wallybean or was it someone else? Would you need to replace the whole exhaust as the angle of the exit point of the expansion chamber and the pipe would be different... or just apply an oxy and bend it to suit?

Not without a bunch of work as the lower part of the 125 frame is way different.

Slipping the 360 into the 250/300 frame is a snap. Everything bolts right up. If the pipe isn't bent all out of shape it will mount up perfectly. As I said before the only thing you really have to swap with the motor is the top of head motor mount.

    Thanks for all the replies!
I've been also told that there's no difference between the crankcase of a 250cc and a 360cc?
So clutch, gearbox, connecting rod, etc are all the same??
Just a bigger cylinder, head and piston?

Rod might be different but the rest is as you said.

I don't think the clutches are the same and I know the gearbox isn't. Might be true of the older 250 6 speed models tho.

My 94 WXC250 and 92 WXC360 look identical except for the cylinder and pipe.

It would be fun to have the 360 in an updated framed....[IMG]

The 360 and pre-99 250's shared all the same parts. The current 250 has different cases, clutch, crank and such. Tranny swaps though you need to swap the entire shifting assembly with it.

Hmm, this sounds intresting for the iceracing! A swap to the 360 engine with a good portingjob, highcomp head, PWK and a good pipe!

So does this mean you could put a 360 head/barrel on a 300 or is that alot more complex with the internals?

I do not think so as the case changed in 99 and the 360 continued to use the old case / trans etc.

Personally I like the frame and suspension mine is in now :D

so i have a master plan, going to put some sweet revalved and setup ohlins forks on my 360, get the shock revalved, add a damper, replace all the warn parts and bearings and get new plastic for it. i have decided, like my cool ATK 406 this bike is to cool and unusual to let go so it is a keeper. Once i get my 511 and my 144 fixed i will be tearing it down for a new lease on life.

    Kelly,

Where would one find Ohlins forks for a 360, I have a 2000 I want to trick out?
