250-500cc WR/WXE 250, 1994 -1999 Changes??

Hi all, new husky owner, very tidy low use 1995 WR 250. Bike seems pretty good all over with the exception of faded/cracking plastics to be expected with age.
It is not in my nature to let a toy be just right though... I want it to be like a new bike under the skin, so far I am discovering that parts are getting rare for these bikes (hate to do it but rather than renew it looks like the plastics will be getting primer/filler/paint oven treatment, before you ask, no, I don't want to put the newer sub frame and plastics on).
The area I would really appreciate some help with is some education on the evolution of the engine/running gear throughout the history of this model. I can never seem to find parts of quite the same age and am unsure whether they will match (don't want to ship the wrong parts all the way to oz).
Case in point, would like to out an fmf gnarly pipe on. Can't find a listing for a 1995 WR250, can find a part listing for a 1993 and 1999-2004..... Will it fit.

Have tried all the usual searches and can't find a definitive list of hardware changes from 1994 onwards for this model, hopefully somebody here can help, seems to be a lot of excellent knowledge on this site.

on the carb if you see someone that has jetting experience they can dial it quickly
my local dealer had a card on my 93 360 and it was so close it was amazing
i put a Lectron on my 99 and with a slight tweak it runs great
so if you have a guru or some time it is fine to use the OEM if not then do the switch

So according to that the OE pipe is unique to the 95/96 models, does anybody know if there is a difference in the fitment of aftrmarket versions? From what I have seen of other WR's the external engine and frame design appears the same for,several years. Is it worth taking a chance on a pipe designed for a 98 bike?

The 1993 pipe will fit fine. The secret to jetting here in the US was getting a 6AE J1 64 needle if I remember correctly. We got unrestricted models in the US so I am not sure about the bikes down under.

Thanks Rancher, do you know if it is worth throwing a set of boyesen reeds in these motors? Motor feels pretty good and compression is fine but I will be throwing a new top end in anyway just so I know that I am starting fresh.
New top end, pipe, maybe reeds and jetting sorted, should be ready to hit the bush. Have a national park with great trails 5 minutes away from my house and I hear it calling me

lectron if you can afford it. they work excellent and improve your mileage. i have 1 on my 95.
the stock pipes are horrendous, double wall wall, feel like they weigh 20 lbs, etc. dynoport also will make you a pipe. altho many thnk they are too expensive, they are a bit thicker material and very well made with a great power spread. i like mine very much, i have one on the same bike as yours in 360 flavor.

Call this the before shots, its in pretty good nick and rides nice and tight but like all toys its a project and will improve.
Really impressed with some of the build quality and part selection by husky/cagiva, must of been an absolute weapon in their day

I have a 96 wxc 250 with the stock mikuni. I have never had any jetting problems. the engine runs great and it's super reliable. I see no need to "upgrade" that carburetor. Parts are getting REALLY hard to find though. I have an FMF pipe and muffler and I can't remember what I liked or disliked about the stock exhaust because it's been so long ago but I like the the Fatty pipe I have had on there for over a decade.

i said the same till i installed a lectron, and i had a 1-2 kick well sorted mikuni. i can tell you the lectron was a great purchase.

my 93 is a 1-2 kick with the original Mic
think the later ones tried to be what they were not, not sure but the early ones seem to work better

Old girl looking a bit tidier now, couldn't source new plastics, resin filled the cracks, resprayed, baked and polished the old ones. The plastic all still flexes ok with out any cracks appearing so,call it a success.
