    Hello

Apparently the 1983 WR and XC frames had a steering lock dufus on the headstock gubbins whereas 84 on didn't. Just wondering whether anyone has seen one, as I haven't and think it might be a myth?

    Thanks

    Steering lock

Hello HR, sorry for the slang. "Gubbins" and "dufus" is just slang for something you (I) don't know the name of, so what I meant was that...

Apparently there is some type of steering lock tab attached to the headstock area of the 1983 framed XCs and WRs. It's shown in the parts manuals and is in addition to the little pins that stick out to govern the max triple clamp side to side turning circle.

I just wondered whether anyone has seen one of these steering locks, and what it's used for? Is there a locking mechansm that attaches to it?

    Cheers

Huskydoggg, that's an interesting story and it makes good sense. I can imagine the noise that thing must have made blasting up that alley! Noise didn't seem to be such an issue back then, but I guess neither did many other things.

Back in '82 I could only afford a '74 Husky 250 with a 175cc CZ scrambler engine cobbled into it. It was a real rat, but the front stilmotor mudguard was strong enough to carry any passengers brave enough for the lift! I think my record was me plus one on the tank, one on the front and one on the back.

My CB radio handle was White Husky. I thought they were awesome.

    Love the terms...

Yes I have them on my XC
white rigid plastic inserts on metal posts on the frame just below the tank, up by the steering head.

Let me know if you want a photo and dimensions, can get em tonight after work.
