Hi everyone, my name is Frank from the Netherlands and I'm a newbie on this forum....in fact I'm also a newbie in the world of Husqvarna..

I recently bought a Husky WR250 (reg 1994) wich I want to restore, Always was a fan of the 90's era enduro and off-road bikes, so me very happy with my new ride: IMG_20190130_100330.jpg

The ignition is fried ( thats why I bought the bike for allmost nothing..) so I ordered a HPI ignition. Wich I have good experiance with on my other bikes.
According to the specs and measurements of the stator mounting points (110mm and 80mm) hpi says that the enigine is not a '94 but an 2000 and onwards....Also because of the measurements of the crankpin diameter.

Looking at the partsdiagram of a '94 I also discovered that the exhaust flange mounting is not the same (3 bolt flange) type as on a 1994 machine... After searching different threads on this forum I'm pretty sure that the chassis is an '94, because of the jiffy mount on the frame and not on the swingarm and the adjustable Showa forks..

My question is if you experts can indentify my Engine and cylinder?? What did I just buy???
    Here are some pics below:

    Hi Frank,

Welcome to the forum! There isn't a lot of traffic around here, but the members have a wealth of knowledge and are very helpful.

From looking at your pictures and as you have assumed, the bike is definitely a 1994. Also, the engine cases look to be from the same model or around the same timeframe as I have the same "STROKE 70,8" tag riveted to a set of 1993 cases and 1994 cases of the same WXE/WXC250 (USA model).

Another giveaway that that is the correct engine is the "73953" stamping on the cylinder is short for part # 800073953 which comes up as a cylinder for CR/WR250 models from 1992-1998.

Also, the 2000+ engines use a completely different powervalve than the one you have pictured, which is correct for your model.

Best guess is someone put a crank (and likely rod) from a 2000+ model year in the original engine cases or maybe HPI has incorrect information.

Hope this helps you and best of luck on it. Beautiful bike, looks like it doesn't even need a restoration!!!

    Hi BenM,

Thanks for the reply!! Very happy to hear that the engine and cylinder do match my 1994 bike...

Also thanks for the compliment...The things I'm gonna do first are a new piston, some clutch plates and the HPI ignition, also ordered a replica seat cover from Pit (ebay)..

I'll post some pics if it's ready in the general 2stroke pic thread!!!

    Thanks again!!

The orange paint on the engine case indicates the bike was ridden at the ISDE probably the 1993 one in Holland.

That would have been a club rider. The classes were sorted by displacement with the smaller ones going first.
