• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

looking to get a new carb for my bike as my mikuni is hopeless, looking to see what everyone else is using. looking to use a bing or a lectron carb but not sure if they would fit. i am not interested in another mikuni for the fact that the air screw is behind the air box and i cannot adjust it without taking the air box off, thanks in advance

if you can afford it use the lectron by all accounts very good unit, you will have to check the inlet/outlet spigot outer diameters to make sure it will fit, aloso you need to check the height clearance.
i would guess your only real issue would be the length of the unit the mikuni is probably about 20mm longer, i fitted a keihin pwk38 replacing the mikuni but manufactured a stainless steel spigot and a rubber boot to connect the reed block to the carb, check for leaks afterwards if this is the case, however i am unfamiliar with your model so i maybe off the mark just presuming its a mikuni vm38.

I have always thought that the replacement Mikuni's are a PITA with the air screw on the right. Surely there is a model that has the screw on the left !
What happens with bikes running twin carbs and Mikuni's ???
Is there an option when ordering a new carb to get a "left" carb ?

We have sold over 140 Lectrons now all configured for various bikes and to our (Motosportz) setup specs. No problem. If you want one PM me and I'll get some dimensions from you and make it happen. Should be a fantastic carb for that bike.

my buddy has a mikuni from a kx125 that has the air screw on the left but he wont part with it, even offered to buy him a new mikuni but no deal, would a lectron be adjustable with one side of the carb being blocked? ill get some pics up tomorrow and show u guys what i mean

wr 360 2002 running lectron in uk FANTASTIC get it get it get it****************************************
this transformed my bike into a better smoother faster tractor of a stump pulling monster, i now realsie that dropping over £60 on main and pilot jets for the mikuni was a complete waste, should of just put that towards the lectron.

or get the bing, not fussed really. i just know im not! selling this beast now Thank you kelly!

forgot to mention mines not a new 360 lol, its a 1976 wr360. love that bike! first husky and definately my favourite bike ive ever owned

im not saying that your carb isnt the problem, but unless your carb is in really bad condition, its not the carb causing problems...an older husky with a motoplat will start and run great with a mikuni... sure some of the modern carbs will improve aspects of how it runs but a vm roundslide will start a bike in a kick or two if everything else is right

it starts great now, just really rich. the spring is bent, and the slide is wore out. my biggest problem is that the air screw cant be adjusted without taking the air box off.

it probably would be but you wont get it to run as good as the vm...much easier to find jets and parts for the mikuni as well...they are also pretty simple and easy to tune..the modern flatslides will get a bit more power and better response if you want to spend more

How often do you think you will need to adjust the air screw? Once its set properly you should never have to touch it again. Not to be a jerk, but it seems silly to spend $400 on a Lectron when you can get a new Mikuni for around $100. I love the Lectron, I have one on my 400 Penton, but I just see access to the air screw as a poor reason to get one.

As for the Bing, when they are new and have fresh parts they are great, nothing wrong with them at all. But, the slides are unplated and wear out extremely quickly, and just a new slide for a Bing costs more than a whole new Mikuni.

another old huskys vm from later in the seventies should have the adjustments where you need them...

the airscrew is pretty important for where i ride, everyday the temp changes quite a bit and the jetting never really stays the same... one day its super cold, next its raining, then snowing etc... when you say the slides wear out fast, how fast do u mean?

You can buy left and right Mikuni's.
Bing's are ok as well.
