Just came across this: http://www.motoraid.com.br/motoraid/noticias/yamaha-yz300e-ser anymore informations?
The only things I could find were the GYTR bolt on 300 kit and some references of people building them up. My Italian, itsa nota so good.
i was searching the web already for more information but did not find anything yet... hopefully its true and they will build something like that. i remember the time when it was only a rumor about the backward engine 450... - and they did it!
Here's some translation .. So I got this picture, I contacted my guru on two wheels, my good friend Thiago Motovideo, who commented that a friend had already talked about this model, and is well able to exist even! From what I saw in some photo details, the bike is European, and that means that hardly arrived here in Brazil, but if he does exist, hope is the last to die! "This bike will be a Bombril, we will walk the track in cross in the enduro, I want one, if you know of someone who will bring you tell me the price I am candidate! "said Fred FR Motorcycle! If you look coldly, Yamaha is really opening up its range and trying to regain its lost ground. This year we had two amazing releases, the wr250 4 times and the YZ250X only for the US market, when I saw the photos of YZ300E, not scared, I see that they are moving, and I'm sure will gain market! After the pronouncement of 2015 new wr250, I get on average about 5 flights per week to know about the bike, it will be a best seller when you arrive in Brazil! Hugs to all, now we can only hope!
Why would a rider want a backwards facing engine? -- The translated words from that page sound more like a conversation than something real.
I assume the E in YZ300E is for Enduro? If that's the case, I'd actually consider putting my Husky WR250 up for sale -- if the YZ300E isn't as expensive as a KTM, that is.
If I was back in the states, meaning I'd have a job and probably more Huskies than I could count. I'd buy everyone you guys tossed No parts and ancient design ...That bike is low low priced if you can even sell it.
http://www.motorcycle.com/manufacturer/yamaha/2010-yamaha-yz450f-preview-88722.html Does it work? I have no clue. It's the same goal every engineer has, simple things like undertail exhaust, engine layout, swingarm length, manufacturing materials, frame geometry, and gas tanks under the seat. It's why they say a 300 2 stroke feels heavier a 250 even though they weigh the same. The term is thrown around everywhere in motorsports, mass centrilization
I'm all in favor of more choices for us. The YZ has a proven positive track record much like most Yamaha engines so it would be cool and Like Kelly mentioned above, they just came out with the 250FX so it seems Yamaha isn't happy sitting and watching the Europeans swallow up all the Enduro riders anymore. A 250 and 300 2T with a lighting coil/lights, side stand and a WR gearbox sounds dreamy to this old guy.
Good bikes but agree, not very exciting and very middle of the road handling feel. I do like them but have a hard time getting excited to ride one.
Would just be great to see Yamaha get back to its enduro roots. Remember when you could choose between an IT 175, 200, 250, or 490 all within a couple of model years apart?
