The Zipty thermostat delete spacer was created in order to provide higher flow & cooling through the Husqvarna and BMW regulated radiators. This eliminates the need for expensive radiator modifications or prolonged down times. The oem thermostat simply taps out and the thermostat delete locks back in. There is no further maintenance, this is designed to last the life of the motorcycle. Replaces items# 3, 4 & 5 in the image above. Fits: 2013 Husqvarna Terra/Strada 650 BMW motorcycles listed below: K72: F 650 GS (0218,0228): (2007-2012) K70: F 700 GS (0B01, 0B11): (2011-2015) K72: F 800 GS 08 (0219,0229): (2007-2012) K72: F 800 GS 13 (0B02, 0B12): (2011-2015) K75: F 800 GS Adve. It is a great looking part, machined aluminum piece of art. The radiator just needs to be rotated down to remove the thermostat housing. Once the retaining clip is removed from the bottom, the housing can be tapped out from access thru the radiator cap. With the new delete installed I refilled the radiator. I started the bike and I could see the XF2 coolant circulating. It really flows now. I let the bike idle for about 15-20 minutes. The fan came on once for about a minute. It was about 70 degrees outside. I will follow up with a ride report this weekend. I would like to thank Tinken and Ty. Thank you."
Tinken, I'm a little fuzzy on the whole thermostat removal thing. When do you recommend removing the thermostat and running open? What is the upside and what is the downside? Would removing the thermostat on a 449/511 and 310 make them run cooler as well? Always appreciate your insight.
There is no thermostat on a 449/511 and I'm not sure if any 310 models came with them. If they did, we removed them. We don't run thermostats at all, they are too flow restrictive. You would have to be in some very cold weather to ever need one and even when we raced in the ice and snow we never used one.
TE 310 has a thermostat. I removed mine with a new silicone hose assembly. Very positive results Along with waterless coolant.
my first thermostat bike was a 1999 KTM250EXC it was my first thermostat removal bike as have been every other dirtbike I've owned since then. one less thing to fail (fail in the stuck closed position would suck)
Funny story. I was just down in Arkansas riding the ADV SLAP rally and a guy with a 2014 KTM 500 EXC was telling me how I should really watch my thermostat on my FE501 cuz they are prone to damage and failure. He had some goofy armor homemade setup on his so I walked him over to my bike and pointed to my solution.... He starred for a while and then I explained how all I did was order 1 450SX hose for $8 that replaced the thermostat. I saw the gears turning in his head. Anyways, to each his own but i'd rather have the higher flow and less mechanical parts to fail.
If bikes had oversized radiators like many cars and trucks it would make sense to have thermostats. My old Econoline has a heavy duty cooling radiator and somehow I blew it the last time I serviced the cooling system and got a stat that is too cold. Once it opens it tends to stay open and allows the engine temp to drop. Sometimes in cold weather the carb will choke and go into warm up idle. It'll do 45 without touching the gas. However I'm yet to see a motorcycle that has an oversized cooling system.
Looks like it'll fit the Nuda 900, they run the same radiator as the F800GS. Not too interested myself, using the XF2 it runs cool enough, also every winter I'll be riding around in <5C temps at over 110kph for extended periods!
Take the old thermostat out, add block off and 1" Meziere external thermostat. It's basically a housing that holds a high flow General Motors thermostat. http://www.cafehusky.com/threads/the-real-radiator-fix.43323/#post-419270 https://www.meziere.com/displaycategory.aspx?id=244,323
side note/related for my Huskys TE and TXC450s and TE and TXC 310s I just added the CV4 MX race bike TC450 and TC250 hose kits (one was black head on red head model kit), no more T-stats. this same op was done on my current TE300 it has an 250SX blue hose kit installed, no more T-stat. Samco also has the same high quality hose kits set up.

Been getting a few calls lately from customers about their Husky/BMWs overheating due to malfunctioning thermostats. I have customers now sending in their radiators to me for install. If you are interested in adding the delete to your system, this may be an option for you. Turn around time is only a day or two. So far, no external thermostat has been needed and this setup is trouble free.
I have added a few other models which use the delete on my original post. Seems that many motorcycles have the same thermostat. If you know of anyone with this on their BMW, please let them know this solution exists. Thanks!
We sold quite a few of these, glad we could help you guys out. This will be our last run of these as we will not be making them again. I have a couple more of them if you didn't get a chance to pick one up.
I have dropped the price of the Thermostat Deletes down to $49.99 in order to sell off the remain stock of them. There are no plans of remaking these, so once they are sold out, that's it. http://www.ziptyracing.com/zipty-thermostat-delete/
I'm to lazy to call the office to order one of these and a bottle or two XF2... And the website hates me lol Long weekend in AUS so motivation is low!
