  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

05 Tc450 too loud other alternatives?

JimboMatrix

Husqvarna
New UK owner of an 05 TC450 and I am looking to quiet things down a bit as the stock exhaust although it's fun, is just ridiculously loud.

I've looked into fitting a universal baffle that just plops in and is bolted in place, not sure if they work or how good they are?

I've found an 07 te450 muffler does anyone know if this can be easily fitted? Cheers

I would suggest that if you increase your exhaust back-pressure that you look at your intake and if you have a totally unrestricted intake, that you might want to consider decreasing your overall intake surface area to try and match your exhaust rate. Engines with alot of cam overlap really need a balanced intake and exhaust system to hold the air/gas charge in the combustion chamber during the overlap period.

I assume that there is some sort of packing in the muffler when new, and it may have degraded over time. I haven't repacked a muffler in a long time, but the last time I did, I used these things with very good results:

They are like a doughnut so the can be stretched over the muffler core. Being stainless-steel they last much longer than the fiberglass that is typically used. Stuffing the muffler with these will make a dramatic difference in sound.

I put a Leo Vince X3 system on my 05 TC450. If you go this way, the stock mid pipe needs to be removed and be replaced by the new mid-pipe. Fit perfectly. It should be a little quieter that the Ti race muffler.
