  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

05 Vs 07 TE450

I have an 05TE450 and i really love it. The big let down for me is at 100kg riding weight the front forks dont feel like they handle it well. My wife has the 08 and its so much nicer, i have ridden then the 07 and 09 and they also so much plusher than the 45mm fork on my bike.

I spent $650aud on them last year on custom valves, s[rtings and oil an it made a huge difference, but they arent as nice as the 50mm, by a fair bit i think.

I REALLY love the yellow and blue, so i wont consider a newer bike than 07 so i can change the plastics (bit vain, but i like it :) )

Is there any other benefits between the bikes thats worth upgrading for, or should i just spend the money on a fork upgrade for the 05? Or maybe there is something else i can do to make the form feel plusher?

I cant think of another way to describe it other than not plush enough - i go into a corner and have no confidence, i feel the front is too stiff and pushes out through the corner and i feel it deflecting across fast/hard/rocky track.

If it were me I'd go back to whoever worked on the forks and ask them to make them more plush... I'll assume you have bled the air out of the forks - air in them tends to make them 'harsh'.

I've ridden a few re-worked bikes and LTR racing had by far the plushest forks. Since you are 'down under' it may be a royal pain to ship them to LTR but that still may be the best option.

I have to go back to the guy so i will ask him to take another look. To bleed them do you open the bleed screw when the bike is up on the stand?
