    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

I am posting this here and at TT to get as much help as possible, thanks to all

Few questions for the faithful. Looking at a new Husky and not really up to speed on the modern ones. 6'2" 235 46yr old vet nov/int level mxer, only race vintage or evo these days on '82 Husky 500 / '83 Husky 250 / '83 Honda CR480. Looking for one to ride with my friends and to practice on between vintage races but as time is scarce (son's baseball) these days really don't ride much anymore but the new Husky is calling my name and will be on mx track 95% of the time. Whats the main differences between the '08 and '09 ? What is better suited for my needs the 450 or 510 ? I've seen a few '08 TC510 with e-start and have to admit the little red button sure is nice and have to say bud loves his on his KTM450SX and when it's 105 in summer here any bit helps. Does the e-start add that much weight ? I could see at pro-level racing but for a spode does it matter ? My current practice bike is a Honda CR500. Thanks to this forum and everyones input and help. The TC is intended as a motocross bike and has a narrower 5 speed gear box sorta like a crf450r and is kick start only.

The TXC is intended as an offroad bike and is similar to the TE except they do not come with a 50 state legal license plate for the road. The gearbox is the same as the TE which is a wider 6 speed gearbox sorta like a crf450x, comes with a kickstart & estart. TXC model came out in 2008.

I'll let others fill you in on the other details... but I'll never buy another bike without the estart. :D
 
Rhett get the TXC 450/510. I have one and these bikes ROCK! Estart adds about 8 lbs. but it's more than worth it. These bikes are so well balanced and easy to ride it's almost like cheating and I love it. The motor, clutch, trans, brakes, handling, and looks of course are all AWSOME. If you can't tell by now I really like my Husky. Get one and you will see for yourself how good these bikes are. I took a $6,400.00 (at lest my wife did) chance on a Husky and would without hesitation get another one. Oh and there isn't a Husky dealer in my state. Good luck and if you have anymore questions just ask and if I can answer them for you I will. I am a new Husky fan/owner so I may need some help form the fine folks on this fourm.

Except if it's a WR/CR-125 :lol:

Look no further than the TXC.:thumbsup:

The 450 has more snap. But not by much.

The 510 is just a bit tamer due to its longer stroke.

If you don't mind pay'n a little more go with an 09, you can still get

the "Hero's Ride Husky" rebate.

Maybe some 08's still qualify.:thumbsup:
 
Wouldn't the TC be the better mx track bike with the 5 speed? I am of course a Husky noob here with my TE 510 being my first, of hopefully many, Husky's. :thumbsup:

My 510 has a ton of power. I haven't ridden a 450 Husky, but if it has more snap then the stump pulling 510, my money would be on a TC 450 for 95% mx track use. For an enduro course I would think the 510 would be the ticket as mine sure does love the straights.
 
I don't know it probably would be better if you were competing, younger, or just more serious about MX'ing. I just ride for fun I like to just like to jump what can I say. Also I have only ridden one Husky', mine so I don't know. I did take my TXC 510 out to a very rough MX track today and I did the track in mostly 3rd gear. This thing pulls very well. With the TC you don't get the electric kick start button that I enjoy so much. I don't think you would go wrong with either bike.
