  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Just got back from a great day of riding. The weather couldn't have been better and the bike is now officially perfect! After adding the full Titanium Leo exhaust with the new ECU, the bike was 85% perfection. I still wasn't pleased with the lugging capability (too tall 1st gear). After a few PM's to Kelly, I ended up installing a 12 tooth counter shaft sprocket along with a Motosportz damper. All I can say is WOW! :notworthy:

The 12 tooth sprocket completely transformed the bike for me! It made it a tractor compared to the finicky, clutch-sensitive, woods racer I became accustomed to. Taking off from a standstill in woods or on a hill is a breeze compared to the former "clutching and reving" beast the TXC was in its former life.

I also forgot how important a damper was until today's ride. I had a damper on my '09 TXC. When I bought the '10 TXC, I convinced myself the bike didn't need a damper... WRONG! Just like the sprocket, the damper made a huge difference in the bike's handling and feel as well as boosting my confidence in ruts, rocks and roots.

Thanks to Kelly for putting the final 15% of perfection in my TXC. I couldn't be happier with this bike. :notworthy:

How would you compare the 09 to the 10 in motor and handling? I have an 09 txc with 310 kit. Motor is great but bike feels heavy.

The '09 motor had more low end lugging torque for sure. Wide open, the '10 is the better motor, pulling stronger than the '09 at high revs. The '09 motor, while completely bulletproof and infinitely easier to work on, is not the screamer up top that the '10 is.

Granted, I had to work to get the '10 dialed in. The '09 was good out of the crate. If you get a 2010... put a different exhaust on it, and, if you like your bike to have more low end lugging, put a 12 on the front or a 52 on the rear and you'll have a motor that will rip the face off an '09.

Handling is easy to differentiate. The '09 feels and *is* MUCH heavier. It's a tank compared to the '10. The difference is stunning IMHO. The 2010 feels 10 times lighter. The thing seems to go where I want it to with a mere thought and a flick. In some situations, I had to fight the '09 to get it go where I wanted. It was like wrestling with a bear sometimes. The 2010 is "Look...Line...Flick...GO!". No wrestling anytime. Put a steering damper on a 2010 TXC and you'll meet the handling Gods!

Does the Leo you put on come with a spark arrestor? Do you know if the stock exhaust are the same on the TXC and TC?

Sorry...a bit off topic.

The Leo comes with a spark arrestor and a "DB killer". The stock exhausts are different.

Thank you Keig for being a great customer. Glad you like the bike, it is a racer for sure. I miss mine and am lusting after a TXC310 although i will most liking be getting a TXC449 for development. Your 09-10 comparison sounds right on to my feeling after riding them both back to back. The new one feels MUCH lighter and racer. The old one might still be a better trail bike though. Just more mellow and EZ.
