  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

11 TE310 or 12 TE250?

They are both brand new.... was trying to decide on bikes and said F it....

So I have a 2012 Te250 (will have to unshorten it) and a 2011 TE310.....

Sounds like I will need a Pipe on both and TXC ECU and injector on both....

Didnt know if there was some sort of engine change between the years that made one better than the other....

Either shock is fine with me.... i'll probably revalve anyhow....

13's and the limited 14's had the red heads (larger valves, good ecu/injector) both bikes are awesome so dont worry about it :)

Maybe you can swap shock and forks with the guy here who is looking to shorten his TXC250!

Im not sure if I would swap suspension but I would like to have the lowering parts out of the suspension. So keep me in mind.

The lowering parts are nothing but spacers under the damper rods. The fork springs may be shorter too.
The issue is not the parts but the labor to take them out and swap them.
Everything has to come apart.

What about just 1 bike? 310?
Id say the 310. The 250 is nice but the 310 is enough more where you can get a little lazy on a trail ride. The 510 is on my dream bike list (the first husky i ever saw) but not sure if i would want that as my main ride for the tight stuff. Love my 250 but the 310 is everything people love about a 250 but without the shortcomings. I've never heard anyone say they wish they got a 250 instead but have read a lot of, "how do i make this a 310?" posts lol.

No... just think I'm going to a 4 stroke... been on a 2 stroke for 15 years just gotta decide on which one or get a new TE250 or TE300.... LOL

thought I would switch it up.... I've had 4 2004 CR125s, a 2009 WR144, a 2012 WR144, a 09 WR300, 12 WR300 lol....

In my uncles shop (who passed away) I have a 310 and a 250.... so its an easy move just to pick one of those up or maybe sell and get a KTMHUSKY....

Truth is I had a much better run with my 100% Italian 2011 TE310 Blackhead, she never failed me, as for my BMW 2013 TXC310R red head...there are plenty of horror stories that I wrote before getting her dialed in after mucho wallet digging. so for me in my experience the blackheads are more reliable. Not quite as "sporty/powerful/revvy" as the red heads but they are a solid build.
Get the TE310 Ron, you will not be disappointed, mine was LR's ex bike, I did a lot of mods but all were simple race oriented mods the most expensive was adding the TXC race ECU and 12 port injector kit @ 300 bucks, the other 2 significant mods were adding Jakes TC250 Ti Arrow muffler (with the dB-S/A plug installed) and a Lite battery, the handling difference was significant especially with the Ti muffler that weighed 1/2 of the OEM TE muffler. Here's my ready to race version of the 2011 TE310

license plate included!!! even in Cali.

PS my ex TE310 is still going strong. Oh yea she did bend an ex. valve after many hardcore hours, ZipTy did a full valve job and increased the valve stem dia. with the all new valves included with their head porting mod. updates.
some of her resume' 2012 Tecate HS 3rd 50A, a bunch of local BORCS HS races 1st 2nd and 3rds trophies resulting in the 2012 50+ championship (local Mexico/Tecate small time series but racing hard with my tank arse on board), 1 Nat H&H, Westchec 1 day enduros and HS events and one westchec 2 day qualifier, AMA Idaho city ISDE 2 day qualifier, and all sorts of hardcore Hammer D type trail rides in between. The Black head kicked ass and never faltered. mostly all with 13/50 factory race spec final drive setting. Ron get the TE310.
