  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

13 TXC 310 added

So we made the move again...back to a Husky. After trying all kinds of stuff and much debate, junior went back to (err...shall I say forward) a 13 TXC 310. Sold all of our Hondas. Passed up the Husktm, didn't jump on the YZ wagon, and picked the red head.
Bottom line ...The 310 rips! What an awesome bike....the only down side...I want one too. Don't get me wrong, I like my black head TXC 250, but c'mon...the 310 is the perfect bike. Granted, the oil drain hose is a little funky (though it really didn't cause much trouble when I changed the oil), but as I have seen here already, there is a good work around available through Tinken :)...I've got some learnin' to do.

I took a little different route to getting my 310 but, I haven't regretted it for a second. Mine is 2014 but the only difference that I can see is it has an aluminum fuel pickup, instead of plastic, from the gas tank to the throttle body and it has pan-head type bolts holding the fuel pump in place. I'm currently in the process of by-passing the thermostat hoping to get a little better coolant flow. Down here in Louisiana it stays pretty hot year around and my little fan runs just about fulltime. So far I haven't had any problems getting parts there seems to be quite a few TXC's, and TE's out there so, I thinks parts will be available for a while.

Just install CV4 or Samco hoses instant thermostat bypass ( but cut in the fan thermo switch to retain the fan function)

Any problem cutting in the fan switch? I looks pretty straight forward but, I haven't gotten my new hoses yet. Mine are coming from Samco via Zip-Ty. They may all be made it the same place but Zip-Ty is saving me about $30 over ordering them from CV4's web page.

Which hose set did you order?

As far as I know the one that fits my 2014 TXC 310R sans the temp. prob.!? If it's not right I guess I'll send it back but, I spoke to them on the phone and told them what I had. I have a feeling that the people at Zip-Ty have a pretty good idea of what kind of bike I have. You think!

You ever install your hoses and Rekluse? Inquiring minds want a report already...

Dude...you busted me. I was seriously going to do it, but then the new generation drain back kits became available. I want to do it all at one time, and work has been a real bitch lately. I've got no excuses, though. I am delinquent in my dirt bike maintenance duties.

I had installed my Rekluse about tree months ago, straight forward (read the instructions), and have had zero problems with it in about five hours of riding. Got my hose kit last Wednesday, installed it Thursday but, have been working every day sense with no end in sight. The hose install was easy. All I had to do with the fan switch was reroute the wiring out of the other side of the frame, no big deal. The only real issue was the routing of the top hose. The OEM ran under the back bone of the frame and the kit was made to run through the frame. There is a wiring harness taking up most of that space now but there was still room to spare. The fan switch had to be spliced into the hose on the opposite side but, there was more than enough wire to reach it with the plug. No wire splicing required (which is what I was worried about). The different routing looks better, to me, and shortens up the distances that the coolant has to flow. More direct plus the new hose ride a good 1/4 inch away from the head at the discharge of the pump. Rex
