  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

1973 husky trans. question

gs1952

Husqvarna
AA Class
Its a wr trans. 5 speed and 3rd gear was popping out. When I spit the cases, it broke the ears off 5th gear. 3rd gear on the wr is 22 teeth on the main and 25 teeth on the aux. shaft and 5th gear on the wr is 28 teeth on the main and 19 teeth on the aux. shaft. On a cr 250 trans. I have, 3rd gear is 23 on the main and 24 on the aux. shaft and on 5th its 27 onthe main and 20 on the aux. shaft. My question is how much differents would it make if I put 3rd and 5th cr's gears in the wr's trans. 4th gear is the same in both. Should I buy the 2 , 3rd and 5th wr gears or put all cr gears in. Any help, if anybody has 3rd and 5th gear for a 1973 wr 250, let me know and how much. thanks

WR trans should be a 6 speed. do you have ID plates on the cases the trans came out of

I knew somebody was going to catch that. As I see it somebody put a wr 450 trans. in this 250 case. Auto, I got the 250 running, and it runs good but, it was coming out of 3rd gear, so I split the cases again and 5th gear was broke too. I had a nother cr 250 trans but it had different no's on the gears so, when I checked into it the gears that was broke was a wr gears. So to make a long story short, I put the 3rd and 5th gears out of the cr in the wr trans. Don't know if I will like it yet. Rode it once but not long enough to tell. I will let you know and thanks for all the help you gave me in the passed.

Will i rode it yesterday and I think there is to much difference between 2nd and 3rd but, I don't have 5th gear now. Don't know what I did wrong, split it about 4 or 5 times to get this far. Before, when I put it back together, it was jumping out of 3rd gear as the dogs were wore out, but when I split the cases 5th gear dogs was broke, but I had 5th gear but not 4th. I think when I split the cases I will put the right gears in it. Can anybody give me some info. on this.
