  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

1973 WR/CR 250 tank size & seat height

AA Class
I'm considering purchasing a '73 250, I had a couple of questions. Can anyone tell me about how many miles you can get on a tank of gas? I know it would depend on the terrain and how you ride, but just approximately how far can you get between fill-ups. It looks like the WR has a larger fatter tank, the CR a skinny one, I am kind of looking for a comparison of the two tank sizes. Also the seat height, I ride a 2012 TE250 (the factory lowered one) that is about as high as I would want it. It seems the vintage bikes are all over the place on seat height, every year they get taller?. Is the '73 CR taller than the WR? exactly how tall is the stock seat on these bikes? Thanks.

ARH, I have a 73 WR, that I converted to a CR (bike in my avatar) with a 5 speed transmission, smaller CR tank, 74 forks and slightly taller shocks. But I have the original manual that came with the bike. According to the manual, the seat height is 31-1/2" and the tank capacity is 2.09 gallons. At the ISDT Reunion Ride last year I went 35 miles with my CR tank with gas to spare.
Hope that helps. If you need more from the manual, let me know.

Thanks, I was hoping the '73 was one of the lower ones, that is even better than I was expecting, just wanted to make sure the seat wasn't over 35". I think I'll look for the big tank, would feel better with a 50 mile (or more) range.
