• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Hi Guys, I just picked up this 125 SC, pretty complete. Not pictured are a standard bore cylinder and head, new standard bore piston and pipe. Magura controls work smooth and it rolls nicely. I need an air box, throttle and carb. It's got some funky reinforcement for some moved-up shock mounts. Two questions:

1. Should I cut off the funky mounts and go back to original?
2. Before it was stored the previous owner filled the crank with ATF to avoid corrosion. What do you all recommend to clean it out before I put parts back on it see if it runs?

Sc has the best transmission ratios. Pull the motor out and fill it with premix and sloosh it out a bunch of times.

make it original. it will be worth more coin down the road when you are ready to get rid of it.

Hi guys, pickled up some more parts today. Among them was the pictured swingarm. The previous owner has it marked 72-73 360WR. It measures the same overall length, and the same width at the pivot as my 74 125. There are two differences: each arm has a how bored through, for which I assume is a chain guide, and there is a bolt coming of the right side arm. What is it for, and will this swingarm work on my 125? Also picked up the '81 420 Auto. That's a project for down the road!

Thanks Justin, here's some more of what I brought home today, I promise I'm not hoarding (yes I am!)

Good news-Bad news. First the Good News: The original foot pegs were really bent up, so I tried fitting some late-model pegs on. Drilled a small hole behind the pegs and they bolted right up. Gotta love the interchangeability of these Huskys!

Next the bad news: The replacement swingarm I got was from a 360, and everything matched up size-wise but I didn't measure the width at the axle end, and it's wider. I was able to space the wheel out and get the sprocket aligned with the countershaft, but then the axle was too short. Anyone have a good 125 swingarm they want to trade? I also have a spare 390 auto motor with lots of good parts to trade if you're so inclined.

Rear wheel problem solved. I used what I think is a rear wheel and axle from a 76 250WR. I had to make an axle adjuster stop out of a large nut, but it seems to work OK. Threads extend out a little further than I would like, but we'll try it for now. Also mounted a front wheel from a 250 with larger diameter brakes, so it should stop better. Bonus is that now I've got the shoulder-less Akront rims. It's going to be a racer, so the non-stock parts don't bother me. Besides, I've got all the original parts to return it to stock some day.

I got the engine back together but forgot to check the thread length. Does this use a 1/2" or 3/4" reach plug?

Finally got the bike all together. Got it started with the new ring and wrist pin bearing, Mikuni carb, 360 rear swingarm with wheel, 250 front wheel with bigger brakes. I've got my 390 tank on it for now until I get a yellow one finished. I had to push start it and it feels like a leaking clutch-side seal because it won't clear out. I'll mess with the carb before I split them though. The tranny cases weren't split when I got it so I didn't replace that seal. I like to see if what I've got is worth going the distance before sinking a bunch of money into a project, and it looks like this one is a keeper. It will probably take me most of this year to get it finished; I've got a '77 390 CR on the bench for completion first.

While I've got your attention, does anyone have picture of a Mikuni set up on their bike? IU've got the carb mounted as close as possible to the jug and the air bell wont fit between the carb and rear down tube. I'll get another picture of the "almost assembled" bell next to the Mikuni later tonight.
