  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

1979 WR Speedo Replacement?

burns

Husqvarna
AA Class
Hi, I just got a 79 390WR and it is the coolest bike I have ever owned! I been riding dirtbikes for over 30 years , mostly Jap bikes and a KTM and I am blown away by how great this bike is. I had George Erl go through the motor and get it running like a bat out of hell and took it out last weekend. Most fun I had on a dirtbike in years, I don't think I will ever own anything else but Huskys from now on! I'm new to this messageboard and not very computer savy but I have learned ALOT about my bike by reading all of your very helpful posts. I was wondering if anyone had a 79 speedometer for sale, know where I could find one, or could I retrofit a 87-89 WR(there are a couple on ebay right now)?WP_000083.jpg

North Hollywood Speedometer and Clock, they where able to fix both mine and said they had a new one on the shelf (about a year ago)
The 87-89 units have a smaller diameter drive cable connection. The speedo is matched to the gear ratio on the axle attachment.
They are in L A,Ca (google them for #)
THIS IS THE HUSKY SITE!

Regards,
Team WR

Thanks WR! They do have a couple in stock but they have to change ratio. Probably gonna do it even though it will cost 250.00. My bike was plated street legal in AZ and there is a good chance I can transfer it to CA because it was previously street legal. That is really the only reason I want a speedo anyway.
I will probably get pulled over every time I pass a cop though, nothing about this bike looks or sounds CA. street legal! You're right, THIS IS THE HUSKY SITE!
