• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

1980 Rear Side Plate Brackets?

390wr Jon

Husqvarna
AA Class
The rear brackets for my 1980 390WR side number plates are long gone. Does anyone know of a source (I looked at the usual vintage Husky part sources, but no joy). If no one knows of a source, can someone kindly provide some dimensions and photos of how they attach?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

They 1980 frames had the rear number plate brackets welded to the frame. Are yours broken off or cut off?

Hi Marty,

I looked today and mine has tabs on the spark arrestor on the left side and one forward tab on the right side. Looks like the seat bolt serves as the rear bolt on the right side?

I guess this explains why I couldn’t find my brackets.

Do you happen to have a photo of the right side that you could share?

Thanks,

Jon

Marty:

Thanks for the pictures.

Here is the right side of my frame. However, it does not have the gussets on the bottom that your frame has. I am the original owner of my bike and never modified the frame so I know there were never any gussets. I also have a 1979 390WR frame that does not have gussets either, so I can only assume your frame is not a 1979 or 1980 vintage.

The "cut out" on your top of right side plate answers a lot of questions on how it is mounted. I think I am all set with mounting the plates thanks to your help.

The top picture is of my 1980 390OR original (other than 40mm fork upgrade & seat cover) to me never restored. Bottom picture is a 1981 420AE frame. Same number plate mounting as your 80 390WR. Just had those pictures handy to show you the number plate mounting.
