• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

1982 125/175

looking at a 1982. guy says its a 125, but has 175 decal that look
authentic. I have no knowledge of these old huskys, but think they
look cool and would be fun for vintage stuff. I have an 04 WR125 and
a TE511. any pointers about this would be appreciated.

great chassis but pistons and rods for the 175 are just about unobtainium... it would be wise to get a 125, or 250 and up...many consider the swedish 125s to be underpowered. the 250 and up run great

Thanks for the replys and the pictures. I have not bought the bike yet. The underpowered, 125 I would be ok with,
sounds like the 175, not such a good idea. It looks exactly like the one pictured. Cosmetically in very good condition.

I know the bike you are talking about and it has the 175 kit on it. The owner is my friend and I called him and he verified that it has the spacer under the cylinder. He is an honest guy and while very knowledgeable about motorcycles he is not familiar with huskys. Great guy to deal with if you decide to go for this one.

It seems a fair price, and will look at it this weekend if it's still there. I just hope I can find a way to keep it a 175
since it appears part are not readily available in that size. I am just 20 miles east of St. Louis, in Edwardsville, il.
I belong to splinter creek, where do you ride?

I am south of St.Louis and a member of the Missouri mudders I ride st. joe a lot to prep for National endures our club puts on, and I ride private areas beside that. You could call Halls they might have the parts in stock that would be good to know before buying it. The rod is not changed I would only worry about a piston and rings. The pipe and cylinder are nearly always repairable. I worked with the owner of the bike for 30 years should be easy to deal with.

I found a piston on eBay, $199.00 wow. I will call Hall's, they are the go to guys for sure. That is where I bought
my bikes, and parts. They are the best in my book. Hope to find some spares or I may have to pass..

didnt the kit and factory built bike use a different piston i tried to rebuild one once couldn't get the right piston ... spacer in lots of negative deck clearance [way low compression] spacer out piston wouldn't go down far enough to open the transfer ports [no fuel] only piston we could get at the time anybody ever have this happen to them? YEP HALLS THOSE GUYS KICKA$$ IF THEY CANT GET IT GOD DONT WANT YOU TO HAVE IT

82 175 and 83 175 not same piston. 83 is flat and 82 domed (hence need for spacer) rod is same as a 125. I have an brand new 82 piston, pin, and ring new some where. Thiink it is 1st over 175 (82)

Thanks for that information. You guys are so helpful. I really appreciate your post. I love my newer huskys, and my
heart is set on something vintage, that's nice. I love my 04 WR125, I enjoyed a couple different 80's Japanese
enduros. The bike from the 80's were competent woods bikes and fairly reliable. Hope the huskys are the same.
I certainly enjoy wrenching and doing maintenance, so these type bike look like fun to me.

Hey! I used to live in Edwardsville, I was just there last week over Christmas, my Sister still lives there.

No, unfortunately you didnt find a piston for the '82, you found one for the '75-'76 175 which is a completely different animal. The '82 kit piston is different than the '83 production piston, but that doesnt really matter because none of either one exist. Halls doesnt have any, George wont have any either. One of these days I will finish my rod swap that will allow us to use an off the shelf Yamaha Blaster 200/Banshee 350 piston. The problem is, even as a 175 that engine is pretty gutless, so that project is on the back burner.
