• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

1982 430 WR correct fuel-oil mixture?

Can anyone tell me what the manufacturer´s recommendation is for the correct fuel-oil mixture for this bike?
Thanks,

Chris,
20:1, but with modern synthetics you could do 40:1. Some on his site have mentioned going to 50:1. Whatever you decide on, stick to it and fine tune your jetting. There are many threads on his site already on both oil mix and jetting re the 430, use the advanced search function at top right.

Also see the tech section as most everything you will need to know can be found in there.
Best regards, Adam

Thanks Adam, I had used the advanced search functions, but encountered a lot of discussion on different mixtures, so wanted to know the manufacturer´s recommendation. I have a bunch of manuals, and have browsed through the tech sections, but could not find this piece of info.
Cheers,
Chris

The tech manual won't tell you an exact ratio to run at...it just states "Use oil manuafcturers recommendations"...gets them out of any warranty issues presumably.

I run my '82 430 CR at 40:1 I use caster based synthetic oil Maxima 927 and it's smells and runs sweetly...:)

Yes, you are right, I guess I wasn´t reading the ``oil´´ in ``oil manufacturer´s recommendation´´. I will experiment!

Here's the actual tech data on fuel/oil mix recommendation. Interestingly enough, the '82 does not reflect anything, but my Tech sheet for 82 250 say 4%. For '83, it says 4% and for '81 3-5%. So oringal range recommedation was between 20:1 and 33:1

Yes, I have that technical information document, too. It is strange that the manufacturer did not specify for the ´82.

Well said. Oils are good these days. Tough to pick a bad one. I'm at 50:1 but that is not important. Adam said it best.

Liking the idea of a caster base for the smell mainly. Looked on ebay and Maxima is getting on for £25 a litre!!! Do the flecks of real gold leaf help with the lubrication? Could you let me know where do you get yours from? Ta.

It's pricey in the U.S., too, but not like that! Ouch! Others that have that great smell are Blendzall (I like their Ultra) and Klotz Super Techniplate.
