• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Hey guys my dad has one of these and is planning on restoring it. He put on a husky big bore kit when it was new and wanted to keep it as a 175 but cant find any information on the kit. Does anyone know what the piston is pr have any information about it? He is trying to get this one done so he can start on bis next lol.

Thanks

Thats what he had heard they are impossible to get. I think my brother seized the 175 kit along time ago,my dad is on a kick to get all his huskies going again. Ill search the forum for the thread.

There are no pistons for the kit. Husky used an off the shelf piston from another engine (some think it was not from a motorcycle, possibly a scooter or a generator), Dick Burleson and Mark Hyde developed the kit, but neither of them can remember what piston they used. The 1983 production 175 used a different Husky made piston and there are basically none of them either. There is one piston/ring/wrist pin set on eBay right now for $300, if your dad really wants one this might be the last one left that me and Joe Chod dont already own. You can use the 83 piston in a kit bike, all you have to do is remove the spacer plate under the cylinder that came with the kit. Once that piston wears out, you will be dead in the water and will have to put a 125 top end on it.
