• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

1983 250 wr kill switch wiring?

fe600racer

Husqvarna
AA Class
The motor maybe a 1982 or it could be an 83. It has a black not red coil. That is it is wr not cr. From the sem stator there are two free yellow wires......another Three wires, reddish-brown, green and black, go to the black coil. A single orangish-brown wire leaves the black coil.

How do I wire up the kill switch?

A diagram provided on another thread and comment refers to a blue wire but I can see no blue wire or at least it is not uncovered and free. I connected a kill switch to the orange only wire coming from the black coil. It did not work and I used the choke to kill the motor off idle.

Does anyone have a 82 or 83 wr with these wiring colours and how is the kill switch wired?

Thanks

This is what I found

Thanks. Okay, I have the 2 yellow from stator that would plug into the harness as shown if I had a harness. The orange comes from black coil and that's what I connected to kill direct. Orange and kill button noted in diagram but is says via kill switch to coil? I put direct.

So I don't have a full harness just wr black coil connected to stator. Only loose wire from coil ( Only 2 spare wires from stator are yellow the rest go into black coil fixed) is orange and I connected kill button to that and put on bars. I thought the button earthed to bars killing motor but it does not work. It may be the kill button not working but it feels like it works and is new?

If your bars are still rubber mounted the kill switch won't earth through them. Use a 2 wire kill switch (genuine Yamaha mx are the best). One wire to the coil, the other to earth on the engine.

Thanks. It means I was correct to attach kill switch to orange but my kill switch may not be working and the problem.

Am I correct that the two yellow plug into the wiring harness? My regulator sitting on the bench has one white witr coming out of it.....where does that fit.

Thanks for your advice.
