• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

1983 510 Tx (maybe?)

Hey Husky fans. New member.
So I'm cleaning out my barn and see the old Husky my brother left many years ago. Wiped off the cob webs and started looking more closely. I rode Yamaha's as a kid and now have a KTM790 Adv R, but never owned a Husky so not familiar with this old dog. I really have no idea what it is. I saw an 83 510 TX on line that looked similar, so that's my guess. It'll take some work to get it running, but would appreciate any help identifying the bike. Frame number is: XO18784. I've looked high and low for an engine number but cant find it anywhere on the engine housing. Oddly, the numbers 1261 are hand engraved on the head and top fin of the cylinder. Maybe just a head to cylinder matching thing. It's a cool old bike...left kicker, dual pipes, two rear shocks. Any help is appreciated.

Thank you Vinskord. Much appreciated! So based on the ID chart above, it looks like this bike (XO18784) is an '83 510 TX. Do you agree? Appreciate all the reference info as well. Do you by chance know where they would typically stamp the engine number? From the above chart, I'm looking for a 2095... number somewhere. Haven't found this yet. Thanks again!

Engine number is stamped lightly on the top of the left motor center case near the kick start lever area. That taller area above the kick start gear. They are usually hard to read due to the thick engine case paint. I believe yours is a 1984 model. That is one Husky I never had and of course always wanted one.

Thanks Marty. I think your right. Looks like an '84 500 CX after full review of the huskyclub.com model number chart. I'll go back and look again for the engine number per your suggestion. Thanks again.
