• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Hi all.

What unleaded fuel and oil and ratio do you use on the 1983 bikes?

I have heard 95 Ron is better than 98 because the additives in 08 damage the old seals....98 is good for fuel injection only?

What is the best two stroke oil and ratio for these older bikes?

Here unless you get race gas, generally in cans it is (r+m)/2

Generally unless the engine is built to need higher octane it is best to use lower.

It is mostly compression ratio. The four valves with the spark plug in the middle seems to lessen the need for higher octane at a given compression ratio. Kind of doubt carb or injection matters as much.

I currently prefer to run no ethanol gasoline I get out of state at "recreational" pumps. It was 91 but that one closed and the one I used last was labeled 90 octane. I use Amzoil sabre pro which is really a chainsaw kind of oil. Not going to say what is the best.

If you get 10 replies...all 10 will be different!
Anyway, I use VP Vintage E-0 Unleaded fuel, Maxima oil at 3 oz to a gallon (~43/1 ratio).

as above non ethanol fuel and any good quality 2 / oil at 30 - 40 : 1 ration should get you out of trouble. ive used Motorex, and im currently using the castor 727 cos it smells good...original big end in this old girl still
