    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Been looking for a few years now and finally found one, a Rekluse RMS 6040
I had already done the research and confirmed that the 2004 kawasaki kx250f friction plate,
does fit the '87 430 clutch basket.

Yea I have the same at home still on the shelf .
Also just fitted a decomp so not sure I need the recluse. Bike has magura hydro clutch and I only stalled it once on a recent timed event

I have compression release on my bike too, with the Vape ignition. I just use it for cold starts, once warmed up the compression release seems unnecessary. The Vape ignition retards the timing for start up.
 
Took the 430 out last week and the stock clutch started slipping at high rpm's. It was a perfect time to install the Rekluse. So here it is, worked out pretty good when I installed it with new fiber and steel plates the stack height measured 32.6mm and manual calls for a stack height of 32.4mm. Assembling I put the exp core 1 fiber and 1 steel plate from the top. I used the red springs for fast clutch engagment. Adjusted the center clutch pack per manual and adjusted clutch cable with just enough tension so that while in gear the clutch doesn't pull. Easy install and set up for anyone who was wondering! Still wanting to check with rekluze on the value of their clutch springs that came with the kit. Broke it in per manual by taking off hard in first gear 10 times and then in second gear 10 times. Test road up and down the street several times, works as intended just like the one on my WR300.

Took it to the Forest did 65 miles, clutch worked Great. The following weekend I took it to a local Vintage Hare Scramble.
My Buddy Brent raced his 610 in the Modern class and I raced the Vintage class. We were both sur351170045_286154743831738_866781769131472439_n.jpg prised and pleased with the Results!!
 
That’s awesome! I’m new here, been restoring an 86 WR400. I’m still learning the similarities between engines but do you think this setup would work the WR400 as well? Thanks In advance!
 
Unfortunately No, the 85-86 uses a 5 spring clutch and the 87-88 uses a larger diameter 6 spring clutch.
You would have to convert it to a 6 spring clutch assebly. I went from a 6 spring to a 5 spring on my Supermoto,
just to use a Wright Engineering Primary cover. It took some work although it might be easier to go from a 5 to 6.
I think you would just need a spacer made as the 86 is held on by a circlip and the 87 is held on by a nut.
