  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Husqvarna
Hi Guys,

I picked up a husky recently and been having problems since I got it. Right when I got home my clutch lever had no pressure. I bought a rebuild kit and replaced the parts. I cant tell if this fixed it because I am not able to ride my bike long enough to see if it fixed it.

The other problem is my bike is having issues starting when the bike is hot. Bike starts up cold no problem, I don't have to pull the hot start or fast idle to get it started. After I turn it off it wont start again. When it did start I got on it and rode around the block a few times before it dies and not start. I have a full tank of gas and cleaned my carb. Only thing done to the bike is emission removal and JD jet kit which I followed the instruction doing. Any help would be much appreciated.

The fact that the bike does not need to be choked to get it to start cold makes me think it is running rich on the idle jet. Someone may have cleaned the idle jet with a steel wire or drill bit and gouged it out way too big, resulting in easy cold starts and then no start when hot. Get it running and ride it as long as you can, and try to get back home before it dies, then pull the plug, I'm betting it will be black with dry carbon.

I will give that a shot. I was dinking with the bike some more and realized the nipped on the motor where the evap canister was connected to was not plugged. should this be plugged or left vented? I plugged it, it started and ran. I warmed it up and it turned it off and started again. Now I can't get it started again so it seems like I'm getting close? I will try again tomorrow

I finally got a chance to look at it. I rode around the block and brought it back and sure enough bike doesn't start after I turn it off. I pulled the plug and you were right it was it was black but it was also wet so the bike is getting flooded. I dried it off and the bike started up no problem. Any suggestions on fix? I put in the jets recommended by the JD jet kit. Should I go with a smaller idle jet?

Ok I got to play with the bike a bit more. I replaced the spark plug and rode around for a bit. Bike died when I pulled into the driveway. I pulled the plug and this time it was not as wet as before fairly dry. When I was pulling the spark plug wire off, the thing fell apart. I traced the spark plug wire up and it looks like the whole thing was pinched. I reroute the wire and bike still doesn't start. I'm starting to think my carb and jetting is fine, and the bike is not getting consistent spark. Maybe my stator bit the dust?
