  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

2006 Te510 Common issues/specific preventive maintenance.

I've not long picked up a 2006 Te510 with just on 200 hours on it. Fantastic bike.

I've had a few common Husky issues with it that I've fixed such as the O ring on the slave cylinder and the T piece on the radiator hoses.

This got me wondering, are there any other Te510/Husky specific common issues I should be looking at now, rather than the issue presenting itself during a ride? Any help would be apprecated.

You may want to get a new crossover hose for the radiator. Mine failed after a couple of years.

My O-ring to X-ring repair didn't last long and I needed a whole new slave cylinder. While it was leaking I carried some Magura Blood (mineral oil) in my tool bag so I could top up the master. Might be worth carrying some till you feel confident in the repair. Mine had a LOT more hours though.

Mine ran hot with the IMS 3.4 gallon tank and radiator guards - so watch that your accessories (if any) don't restrict the airflow too much. I switched to radiator braces and stock plastic louvers, that seemed to help, as did running the smaller stock tank for shorter, more technical rides.

Rear tires tend to wear out quickly on the 510... not sure why... :excuseme::)

After I sold my 510, I picked up my current (low hour) 450. It's so nice to have a basically new bike. Enjoy yours.

Had a few o- ring and x ring failures. Put zip-Ty piston in and has been good for 6 months

Covered the plastic T. Seems mine was stock and it had issues not long after I purchased. I temporarily replaced it with a Brass fitting but now have some CV4 Y hoses to completely eliminate the fitting.
