  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

2007 TE450: What to look for?

I found a local 2007 TE450 for sale that I'm interested in. It would be my dualsport bike/easy woods bike. I currently have an told XR250L that I fixed up and modded for a fun project, but it doesn't cut it at all in the dirt. I would primarily be riding dirt 2 track and woods trails with an occasional singletrack voyage.

Bike currently has 4k miles which is a bit more than I'd like, but is really only 500 miles a year. I'd realistically put about the same on per year.

Any concerns with this year/model?

Reliable? Is 4k too high miles?

How would it perform in woods riding (NW)? It has rekluse.

Thanks for the help!

Sweet bike, last year for the carbed TE models. My 2010 has almost 20,000 miles on it, and I really like the Italian big block motor, I think its a tough motor.

How much do they want?

Check to see if there's a burned hole in the air cleaner boot.

Check the rubber intake manifold for cracks.

Check the rear linkage for rust stains, noises when compressing the shock.

Check the disc side front wheel bearing, roll the wheel while on a stand and put your ear real close to the bearing.

Check the play in the steering bearings.

Look for cracks in the case around the kickstarter.

Thank you. Very helpful. Sounds like a very solid motor!

I actually would like the carb model. Less to go wrong I guess and I'm just more familiar with jetting and dialing in a carb.

I will definitely check all of those items.

He's asking $3700, but looking for trade+cash for a 2-stroke trail bike. I have 4 2-stroke trail bikes right now, so looking to do some sort of deal.

How do these bike do in woods riding? It would spend most of its time in the flowing woods trails and connecting dirt roads.
