  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

2008 TC 510 tips

I found a good deal on a clean 2008 TC 510, I am thinking of buying it as a back up woods bike, does anyone here own one? and can anyone offer any tips on this bike? Can it be a decent woods bike?

depending on how good of a deal you found...it can be ok. also depends on how much you want to spend to transform it to a woods bike... a lot of bike to toss about in the woods...I put a 51t rear, 1.8 rad cap and a couple of other small things and it works pretty well.

I use mine that way. MX and back-up woods bike.

If the suspension is like my 08' TC450, it's good off road. I go about 5 clicks less than stock compression and add a couple(2-3) rebound.
Mine is out to suspension this week as it's too soft for MX.

There is a list of small mods by Scott Summers, I think it was in dirt bike? Anyways search it out, you need to do nearly all of them.

It's not nimble in ''roof of Africa'' stuff, for sure you will need a rekluse if you want to ride it in very rough trail, even then it's not much fun. Fast trails are obviously where a 510 will shine.

Love mine, used only for mx. Only issue had was rad hose got a pin-leak, replaced them and added the Uptite Y. Mine also has the e-start, which I love being a 2 stroke diehard. I know lot of pure hardcore mx'ers don't like it as it adds couple of pounds but heck I'm just a 46yr old guy having fun and know Team Husky will not be calling next week to offer me a factory contract.
