  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

2008 TE 510- Fit and Finish and Intro

Husqvarna
AA Class
Hi all, proud new owner of a 2008 TE510. Picked her up yesterday. 899 miles. Radiator guards, risers, GPR stabilizer, PU kitted, shark fins front & rear, skid plate, couple of other things too. Previous owner had purchased and installed IMS tank. Unfortunately for some reason he spray painted it black but luckily he still had the stock tank. During the process of putting the stock tank back on today (I can't stand the black spray paint on the IMS so I will strip it) and servicing air filter etc., I noticed that (2) of the threaded inserts in the subframe have become loose, and the fastener just spins without being able to tighten. This bike hasn't been abused and I doubt the side panels have been removed too many times, and even so, the inserts shouldn't fail anyway. Anyone else experience this issue?

Did happen to me, usually over thigh bolt will cause this or not properly installed insert, what i did to fix this, used a longer bolts with the correct thread and 1 nut on it, thread in the bolts while holding the spinning insert to engage enough threads, then i hold the head of the bolt with a wrench so it doesn't turn, then i do tight the nut against the insert with an other wrench(this will squeeze the insert on the sub frame), did work for me anyway. If this doesn't work for you, you can always try to find a shop with a riv-nut tool or buy one like this one http://www.rivetnuttool.com/ good luck.

Thanks for the tip. I hope these (2) inserts are all I will come across on this bike- even though I've only had it for 1 day. It'll suck if i'm on the trail and can't put something back together properly....

Other thing like this to watch would be the insert on the gas tank they can spin easily if over tight, use little grease on bolt threads, and if they start to spin at some point people usually glue them with epoxy. Overall you should not have many problems, bike is easy to work on, some people still using white knuckle plus 1/4 turn these day to install stuff lol when a torque wrench or common sense should prevail.

Yeah, regarding gas tank insert, one of them is spun as well. It holds the shroud, but I'm switching to the other tank original owner had- too bad I'm reading horror stories about the IMS tank right now!

Hey Matt, you must've got the one that was in Simi Valley or somewhere out in that direction, right? Condrats! This is my first too.

Seems like there is always a Husky out there with low mileage available ... That ~1,000 mile mark is just at the start of a ~well broken in bike :) ...

Good luck with your riding and new bikes ....
