Husqvarna
bought a 2008 TE450 yesterday. Original owner stated the bike had 4417 miles on it when I looked at it. It was dirty and had not be washed, he said he rode it very little in ocotillo wells(off road hard pack riding area outside of San Diego) so it had dust on it.
He was asking $3800. The bike is stock besides the cat and o2 removed. I asked how low would go on the price he said $3200 so I bought it.
Got it home and power washed it off. When I looked and the odo it said 538 miles the 44:17 was the hours lol
I had a 05 ktm 450 dcx before but I am new to the Husky brand. I have owned well over 100 bikes in my life and ride , race mx tracks mostly. But do to a on going back issue I have stopped racing mx and wanted to get back into off roading in baja.
The bike runs pretty good but has a few efi issues as seems to be in most cases with these bikes.
Same old crap flames out and dies at the stop light then starts right back up at cruising speed the bike surges a small bit too.
I ordered the jd box with hopes that this solves the problem?
I am looking for a slip on pipe for the bike simply to loose the extremely heavy stock slip on but can't seem to find anything aftermarket?
The other issue is the fuel tank size. Look as if there are safari tanks or the dreaded ims tank that everyone has issues with. Did ins address and fix the problem with the leaking tanks?
I was also looking at maybe the rotpax and a rear rack for the extra fuel they are 11.2 lbs with 1 gallon of fuel and 13x9x3 so if I stacked 2 on the rear it would be roughly 22lbs. Has anyone tired this? And if so what rack is the best for this weight? I will be using this bike for baja 50% on 50% off road. I will just be trail riding off road no jumping at all. I was wondering if the weight on the rear would be an issue for the sub frame. I would dump 1 gallon asap in the tank to get the weight off the rear on a trip.
As for gearing I bought a 14 and 15 front sprocket it looks as if the 15/47 would be the way to go for me?
Any help would be grateful
