  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

I ran across a deal im considering. I dont know anything about huskies..but really like the ktm 250f which this bike is compared to in all the reviews i've read.

How are the husky engines as far as valve life? Maintanence? Etc?
What kind of life can i expect out of this motor and valve train when riding enduro type of events?

Anything particular i should look for when inspecting it?

Ive been riding / racing for a long time...currently have a honda cr250 2 stroke woods bike.....( no more mx racing at all)

How much can i expect to find an oversized tank for?
Will lights plug right into this bikes wiring harness?
Where do you guys buy your parts from? (Besides dealers)
Who's the best husky suspension guru for woods riders?

Im looking for first hand knowledge..your thoughts and opinions are welcome.

Thanks,
Christian
(please pardon my spelling/punct..i'm typing from my phone...lol..

The valves last. In fact rarely do I hear anyone needing a top end. Several 250s have gone thousands of miles with no issue.

I'd give Drew Smith of WER products a call for woods racing, he sets up the gncc bikes and is a sponsor on cafe husky.

There is also Fran Battone that many like (PA?). On the west coast is LTR Racing who is also a cafe husky sponsor.

Several good Husqvarna aftermarket companies are sponsors and can be found here:

hey,

I bought an 08 coming from an 07 250 sxf. I've only missed the KTM when on the MX track, motor-wise. However, I loooovvvve "the button" and researching the maintanence/reliability made me a convert. I have the good fortune of living 15 miles from George from Up-tite (the Gandalf of Husqys), which was a further plus.

310 kit is on the horizon too, also.

I have one ... All you gotta do to this bike is maybe some carb work and dial in the suspension ... Not sure on UR size, but springs maybe be all you need unless you got $ to burn here ... The Marzocchi dual chambers work very well after a few ADJ...

Here is a thread that shows the suspension capabilities on a track ... This guy also does trail \ offroad riding and changes nothing but his clickers ... I do the same but I'm changing the oil volume in the outer chambers of the forks depending on track or trail ... I reduced the oil amounts and it got nice on the trails ... I'm a rookie in tuning also so I am amazed at these forks ... ESP after reading multiple threads on bike suspensions and tuning ... I PMed him the other day and asked if he had broken the bike in pieces yet and he said nope :)

Zero problems from mine other than a clutch slave issue and a couple other small items... the estart has been flawless and the kicker works well also ...

Lights are easy ... Not sure about the harness but the power outlets are there and the stator puts out pretty good AMPS .. Several options there ... Not sure about the tank ....Some are around but 'm not sure on the total story ...

My bike has ~2500 miles and my valves have only be ADJ once and that was when brand new ... Here is a video on ADJ valves ...It ain't gonna get any easier..

I can't think of any one thing to look at on the bike as far as abuse .... just look at the casings for wear and tear and U cn get a good idea on how much it has been ridden ...
