• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

2010 or later WR300-Thoughts comments?

Hi,
I've found a pretty much new 2010 WR300 with 150km on it.
ATM my newest bike is a 99 FE600e Berg and it is a great bike when its going but it seems to be one thing after another with it, and it is becoming very un economical to just keep throwing money at it. So after one more patch up the big Berg is on the market.

So my question is what are the WR300's like? I've never ridden one and don't know anyone that has one to go for a test ride on.
My last new bike that i sold was a 2002 TM300e and it was a very harsh and fast bike. It would of made a very good enduro race bike but was terrible for a Sunday trail ride bike as you had to attack every hill like it was life or death as it had very little bottom end power and was extreamly hard to put all the power to the ground.

So are the WR300's a vast improvement on a TM300? I sat on a mates 2012 TE250 Berg and found the foot peg to seat distance very cramped as i'm 6'2".
I didn't have a chance to take it for a ride but everyone who has ridden it says it has got a great engine.

Anyway can someone please give me some advice on the new model 300 two strokes, I'll even consider a KTM300, but i'm not very keen on joining the pumpkin patch.
Thanks Dewy.

I bought my 11 WR300 when it was 250 miles away without ever sitting on one or even seeing one in person. I was worried I wouldn't like it. Well, I love it. I am also 6'2". I added bar risers to feel more comfortable standing. It has great low end. Changing out the stock tires was a huge improvement for getting the torque to the ground.

I bought an '09 300. First year for the factory version. The bike was an absolute beast. Strongest 300 motor I've ever ridden. That bike made my '11 Gas Gas 300 seem like a 125. If the newer version is anything like my '09.... strap yourself in and hold on to your butt! That bike was waaaaaaaaaay too much for my wimpy ass.

Buddy has one. Simply put. F-A-S-T-!!! A handful. With pipe and some jetting not to shabby!! Stock I found myself spinning when I didn't want to and the front end up when I did not want it up. But with a little fine tuning what and animal. Kick it like a man, or pay the price........... You will probably like it**************************************** (In all fairness to the bike, it is a little funny to go back to back from a 144 to the 300. You MUST change the way you ride or a tree may just jump out and grab ya!!
