  • Hi everyone,

    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Man you can tell a motor is small when the carb looks half the size of the entire motor. :thumbsup:

- that is a lot of exposed headpipe.
 
Its a new motor but still has that Husky look. Its a pretty machine. it looks like you got the KYB forks-they are really good on WRF etc.
Do you recon this will be the format of new 310, 450 and 510 donks for say 2011?
Give us all the dope after your ride the good the bad and the ugly.

Have a great first ride-there is nothing like the first ride its just a majic day-get heaps of shots for the rest of us to drool and enjoy with you.

No. not in current configuration. the cases are to small etc. It was talked about as a 250F motor from the get go. Now a scaled up version might someday be the replacement.
 
I thought the 2010 TC, TXC and TE 250 was all going to have efi :confused:

I see the TXC and TE does but didn't realize the TC would remain a carb.

I, for one, hope it remains that way until the Japs prove it's better or fail dismally... or until someone can make tuning software that's intuitive and a laptop that'll hold up to dust, rain, mud for "trackside" tweaks :)

All the husabergs i have ridden (09 450/570, 2010 390) have ridiculously great EFI. Like so good it is an advantage and defiantly a step forward. Of course this ended up being a 10K bike so maybe that has a price. the EFI huskys i have sampled all ran good but really did not run better than the carbed bikes.

After riding the Bergs I am 100% convinced it is the future and is remarkably better than carbed equivalents.

that said I would love to see a $100 hand held that allows trouble shooting and adjustment not only while at home but on the trail.

Yamaha looks to be doing something like that with their new EFI system...

I'm pretty stoked on the Yamaha Ipod tuner tool too. I don't know why no one thought of it sooner. Makes total sense to me. No need to go out and buy a lap top to tune your bike.

My 2008 TE250/310 ran at least as well as my 2007 TE250 with the JD jetting kit. At sea level they were likely a match but as soon as you start gaining elevation, the EFI bike ran better hands down. I'd rather have EFI that only ever performed at 99% of perfect but all the time than a carbed bike that runs at 100% perfect at only a set elevation/temperature.

Hey Pauleee need to ask if the bash plate for 2010 fit into a My08 and 09 frame.. if it is able too i would get a husky bash plate for my self and my friend.
 
Yesss! Finally got to sneak in a ride and it runs strong. I wasn't ringing its neck too hard, you know breaking it in and all so true top end is still unknown but man does it have midrange like crazy. More than any stock 250f I have ridden recently. Will give better report on the motor after break in. When I did after ride valve inspection two valves were a little on the tight side.

Suspension was great for a first ride and the bike steered wherever I pointed it. The Kayaba is definately firmer than the Marzocchi fork and it soaked up big stuff real good. The brakes were strong and have very progressive feel. I'm used to running Dunlop 756 or MX51 tires on my other bikes and to me the Pirellis didn't feel as good. Maybe I'll come around to them as I get the suspension dialed in.

I'll check on that skid plate fitment with another bike at the shop. I think it should fit. I hope so, because it has nice coverage, is light, looks great and because its plastic, probably doesn't cost much.
