  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

2010 tc250 starting issues

Yea i know it's probably been posted heaps of times, and yes i did do a google search before posting this thread, but my 2010 Husky TC250 that i got 3 days ago, is having issues starting.

When cold, i choke it and it will start 2-4 kicks, just taking stabs at it.

When hot, it runs well, bit of a flat spot in the mid range, but when i turn it off, the hell begins. Different things i've tried:
  • Throttle and petrol on
  • Petrol off with throttle
  • choke, petrol on and throttle
  • choke, petrol and no throttle
  • hot start with the other combinations but with no choke
When my Neighbour was kicking it over after a ride it back fired and it flamed with an orange/purple flame out the exhaust.
What could it be?
Also i left it for 5 minutes then i kicked it over 3 times and it started with choke and petrol on and no throttle.
Is this common and an easy fix? Was planning a 3 day ride on the long weekend (Australia) but will i be able to get it fixed by then?

I have a 2010 TC 250 and after the carb changes I made as recommended by Hall's and as long as the pilot jet is completely clean the bike starts hot, cold, or anywhere in between in a kick or three at the max. Before those mods it was a hit or miss starting bike. Give Hall's a call and check to make sure the pilot jet is completely clean. btw to start it now it's choke on when cold, no throttle, long steady kick. Once it's warm/hot no choke, no throttle, long steady kick. I try to press the kick starter on the compression stroke and not just kick it like I do my 2stroke bikes.
