  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

2010 TE450 electrical issue

Hello all, any help would be greatly appreciated. Shut off my mint running 2010 TE450 3 days ago and tried to go for a ride Saturday and no go... I have it narrowed down to no spark. Here is the interesting part, neutral light doesn't come on, horn, signals and high beam will not work with key on. Fuel pump (new, aftermarket) whirs up every time, she turns over great but no go. Tried all 4 fuses I could find all good. Any ideas?

Check the obvious. Spark plug, ignition coil connections, engine kill switch. So you have no spark or you THINK you have no spark?

Thanks for reply! 99% sure it is no spark. Just dumbfounded how it just happened out of the blue. Never had an issue b4. Picking up new spark plug today and tester. For the life of me I can't remember if the lights, signals etc work with the motor not running.

Headlight does not come on until engine is running. The city light (small watt bulb off to the side) comes on with the key to ON.
Did you replace all the fuses with new fuses.

The wiring harness has a few internal connections for negative earth (joints). I guess one of those is corroded. Try turning on the key and wiggle the bars left and right. Also wiggle the harness on the left hand side of the headstock.
If you notice electrical bits lighting up or going out again you have to cut open the insulation and fix the joint. Seal again with properly with heatshrink and electrical tape where appropriate.
If you wash your bike with a pressure washer on these models the water seems to get in to the loom and corrode things.
