  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

2010 TE510 Fuse and running issue !!!

Hi there cafe husky people..

I have an issue which has me a little concerned. Over the past couple of rides I have fuses blowing ( main one which causes bike to stop dead) it has happened twice now during rides. I put a new 15A fuse in and all is ok. Any ideas why the fuse may blow ???

Second issue started during a ride where bike would just stop ( seems like fuel starvation) also when hitting reset red button the fuel pump would not cycle!! Did start but would quickly starve again..

Worst part is that after a while the bike ran normal for next 50 Klms.. Then issue would re appear..
Think a couple of things?? Do I have an electrical short somewhere?? How do I check ??

Any comments appreciated... Overall been happy with bike but a we all know things like this are really frustrating!!

Thanks for now

Ric

I had the same main fuse thing, have still not found a cause, the main fuse is a 20 amp is it not? I replaced mine with a 25 amp.

You probably need a new fuel pump, I am on my 3rd one, if it doesnt prime when power is switched ON, the pump is probably frozen due to heat expansion and will get better when it cools down a little.

No the main fuse is 15 A.. I did put a 20 A in.. and it has not blown after another 150 km ride...

this fuel pump issue is a problem though.. seems to run fine then stops and starts intermittent.... I hate these issues and if it is a fuse you know exactly.. but with electrical where do you start ??

thanks anyway.. will keeep investigating

Fuse issue could be a short in the wiring. Take the tank off and run the wires and look for chaffing points. You van then tape up and pad around the chaffing area.
Failing that agree to go up to next amperage fuse.
It may be the fuel pump has partially dislodges rather than on the fritz. This was an issue with earlier FI bikes and a simple solution is to use a couple of zip ties to hold the bits in situ.

Good luck. loved my old 510 it is a lot of bike.

Can't help you with the fuse deal. But try blowing the start/kill switch with an air compressor. I replaced the entire wiring harness on my 510 trying to find a short or something. Bike was doing the same thing, very random intermittent starting but when it wouldn't start I would only hear the relay click but no fuel pump prime. Long story short all I had to do was clean out that switch

Thanks for your help... Will try all of the above ****************************************

Cheers ric
