  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

2011 TE310 Front Wheel Assembly

Hi Fellow members,

I've recently purchased a 2011 TE310 and am having a run of bad luck. I've had the starter motor crap it self, kick starter shaft break and now have had the front wheel bearings disintegrate after just being replaced (less than 6 hours ride time since fitted).
As I have soon come to realize the previous owner to this bike had no clue what so ever about regular bike maintenance. To cut a long story short I had to replace both front and rear wheel bearings before my first ride - no probs there. I've installed 'All Balls Bearing kits' front and rear but have had the front wheel bearings disintegrate after about 5 hours riding. As I was a long waw away from my car I had to slowly ride back so I've got damage to the Axle spacer, LH Spacer and Hub.... does anyone know why this may have happened? And without this being a dumb question, could some one verify there is only the 1 wheel spacer to the Left Side only?

Thanks in advance

Yes, one spacer on the left disk side.

Keep in mind the 2012 bikes have a slightly narrower hub that requires a longer axle.

I just looked up the 2011 and 2012 models and they have the same axle, hub and wheel spacers. Maybe you are thinking of the 2010 models before the hub change in 2011 ???

Thanks for your replies R_Little & rancher1,

Thanks for confirming what I was seeing but unsure about.
I could the Huskie agent from where I purchased the AB Bearing kit. Gave the usual spiel about high pressure cleaners etc etc but has come good to replace the 2 wheel bearings & seals with out charge and to provide 2 new spacers the (the LH and Centre) at a discounted price ..... so I'm in a slightly better mood. I have noticed since though, my hub has sustained a bit of damaged to the inner side of the openings to where the bearings sit but I'm hoping this won't affect the seating of the bearings? If you can see through the hub in the picture below you might see the edge to the hole has burred over quite badly. Also as an fyi see the 2 spacer below and the damage sustained to them.

Could be.

I thought the 2011 hub was the same as 2010...what do I know.

Hi reveille,

A couple of guys I have talked with r.e what has happened say the same thing about the all balls bearings ..... so I will never be putting AB bearings in any wheel again.

R_little,

rancher is correct about the hub sizes ...... I believe the 2009 & 2010 are the same and then they changed with the hubs with 2011's for which the 2012's are the same.
