  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

I'm about to buy one of these after a 7 year break from riding. I've been riding and racing for 40 years and before I broke my back last time I spent 10 years on KTMs and the 10 years before that on Huskies (510, 610, 410 and 250WR). My last bikes where a 07 KTM 250EXC and an 05 650 Husaberg motard.
After reading through the forum I'm concerned about a couple of things with the 310. Hopefully you can put my mind at ease.

Electric Start. I need this to work as my right leg is pretty mangled. Is it reliable? what do I need to do to keep it working.

Engine life. I understand the need for regular oil changes and light weight full synthetic oil. Will I be looking at bottom end problems anyway? If so at what approximate hours?

Valves. What sort of life are you getting from them?

I understand that there is a 12 port injector and controller upgrade. Is this necessary? I don't need a top end monster just something with nice tractable power for trail riding.

I talked to my local dealer who I have known since the 80s and he tells me parts will still be around for the Italian bikes for some time, how are people finding parts availability?

Cheers Geoff
