  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

2011 TE449 Jd Tuner Sttings

i have a 2011 TE449 with stock air box, FMF pipe, and a JD tuner. Im running the stock settings for a 449 with a pipe, but power doesn't seem consistent when riding on the road at about 3000 rpm. I can feel the speed drop slightly. Also seems that the bike should be able to lift the front wheel at WOT in all gears, which it doesn't. Just curious if someone has a similar setup and had it tuned at a dyno that wouldn't mind sharing their setting. I generally ride a sea level to 2000 feet amsl. Thanks

I had a JD for a while on mine with the Akro TXC muffler. I started with those settings but was constantly fiddling with them. Don't be afraid to add fuel where you think you need it. If it's lean surging, add fuel in half steps.

I got mine to run pretty good but always had a weird off idle stumble I could never tune out. Was better than without the JD but never quite right.

If you want it rip, just get the PCV. I messed with the JD for almost 2 years before I went for the Tinken set up. Plus you can load multiple maps and use a 2 or 3 position map switch to change on the fly.

I installed the pcv today and removed the secondary butterfly and am running the 2011 zipty full factory race map. Bike is more responsive and has a noticeably more power; but from about 80% to 100% throttle is surges a bit. I have a FMF power core and stock air filter. I plan to remove and block off the O2 sensor tomorrow. Is there a better map i should be running or any suggestions on how i could tune it to remove the surging. Thanks.

And one other thing, not a big deal, but kindof annoying. in neutral after applying about 5% of constant throttle the bike flames out. Im 2.5 turns out on the bypass screw. Any thoughts on things i can try? Thanks
