  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

2012 TE 250 ride height

Nathan Smith

Husqvarna
Hi,
iv recently bought a te 250 12 model (im in the uk) the guy who i bought it off said it had been lowered, and it does feel very low. I have changed the fork springs which were about an inch shorter than normal, and also changed the rear spring to suit my weight, but the bike still feels low and the seat height and ground clearance is also low. The linkage on the bottom of the shock lookspretty stock (no blingy shiny add ons) but is there anyway i can tell? im quite tall at 6,3 so i need the bike a little taller.
Any help is appreciated,
Thanks
Nath

It's lowered stock at the factory.

It has shorter fork springs and shorter damper rods.
It might have spacers you can remove.
Same thing with the shock.

I think the low te250 was only available in the US. Not available here in AU anyway.

Nathan, try find out which shop lowered it and speak to them.

Might want to look into having a few inches removed from your legs. I would think at 6'3", you might think my 510 is small
:)

Taller seat foam could be an option for you.

It's only the us models that were factory lower, not anywhere else. My gut feeling is that the stroke on the rear shock has been shortened somehow. Does anybody have the eye to eye measurement of an unlowered non us model shock?

In that case someone put spacers under the damper rods and cut the springs in the forks.

Do the springs you took out look cut?

I bought my bike used and it was already lowered. The forks had spacers and shorter spring seats. The shock had a spacer with stock spring. I disassembled the shock and removed the spacer. I too am 6'3" and tried to ride the bike lowered. Didn't work...
