  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

2012 TE 310 rekluse exp 2 noises

Curado

Husqvarna
A Class
Picked up new from the dealer with the Rekluse already installed. Makes scary noises! Anti squeal kit was already installed when I opened it. I changed from 40 to 52, and from synthetic 10w40 to Rotella 15w40.

Anyone had any success getting rid of the noise? Rekluse suggested buying their basket, and I have seen posts about Zipty's clutch mod. But what actually works?

I've got an exp2 in the box ready for my 310 but I was waiting for the clutch basket, which came in today (UH!). I heard the stock basket and the Rekluse basket have a very slight difference in their tolerances/sizes which makes a difference with the chattering. Also, make sure it's actually an exp2 and not an exp. There's supposed to be a difference with noise between the two versions of the clutch as well.

We had the same issue with noise on my friends 450 KTM. The new Recluse basket took care of almost all the noise. With proper adjustment it works great.

Box says EXP 2.0. I put the conventional clutch back in and emailed rekluse about it. It worked fine for the first 5-10 hours but got to the point where it does it in a level parking lot.

Half of the the 2.0 core sticks out over the top of the basket. So I wonder if the rekluse basket is deeper to accommodate the clutches + entire core. Otherwise it looks to me like it would be out of balance all together.

Just wanted to update on my experience with the Rekluse in the 2012 TE310. The anti squeal o-rings from Rekluse did not solve the problem. The first set installed by the dealer became de-indexed. The second set installed by me remained but did not keep it from squealing.

I ordered and installed the Rekluse clutch basket, no difference in height, but entirely different rubber dampeners than stock. The stock ones are D-shaped, 1000 miles on them, and mine were starting to show signs of distress. Chunks of rubber missing out of a couple of them, and scattered under the ring gear plate.

The Rekluse basket did not produce any squealing going up the hill climb in my back yard in 1st or 2nd gear, so I am considering this an improvement. I used the included red thread locker, and bought an actual punch to peen the screws per the included instructions. Hopefully this will keep them from backing out as Rekluse warns!

Has anyone bought and installed the ZipTy clutch cushion replacement kit? It's half the $ of a new Rekluse basket.

Robertaccio swears by it, send him a PM.

I've watched Ty install these. It helps prevent that center brass bearing from wearing out as well. There are no roller bearings.

I did one on my 11 TXC, It was pretty easy. Take your time in drilling out stock rivets as it's hard to locate the center of them if I remember correctly. A couple I had to grind off, but worked great once it was all installed. Also I would advise using a drill press. I did it without but was pretty nervous the whole time. Made the clutch feel new again!

Haha not a problem.
I contacted you with an order recently I might add the clutch cushion kit to it...... Ill get back to you :)

Thanks for the info. I spoke with Danny on the phone last night. How does this compare with the Rekluse replacement basket in regards to fit and reliability?

Follow up. I have the Rekluse clutch and Rekluse basket in my bike now. Still makes the horrible grinding sound sometimes. Running the stock 40 tooth rear sprocket will make it shriek. The 52 tooth sprocket does it on steep uphill climbs. I have not tried a different brand of clutch plates yet. Mainly I just avoid situations where it happens.

Regarding the clutch rubbers: the stock ones were starting to disintegrate at 40 hours when I made the switch to the Rekluse basket. I have not checked the Rekluse rubbers yet.
