  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Husqvarna
A Class
Towards the end of my second riding season with about 3400 miles things are going wrong. Having to adjust valves often, having to add a significant amount of oil after every ride which is about 100 miles, having issues with the starter lever not reving engine and running rough, trouble starting. Real close to dumping the bike and eating my loses and getting a new FE 350. Really like the Italian Huskys but I've heard bad things about them and now am living them. Last ditch I will take the bike to the dealer but I fear the end is near

Sounds like you need to find out cost of a rebuild first and then decide.

** In contrast I have over 3,000 miles of dirt and while only 1 30 mile race, it burns no oil and in good working order. Maintenance has simply been regular oil and filter changes and attention to the limitations of the bike with appropriate care. I will rebuild when it needs it but that may be closer to 6k miles or will revisit this at that point. Learn as much as you can about the motor and diagnose and repair yourself if you can. A good dealer is key but a bad one can be your worst nightmare... especially with a brand new bike!

It is a high performance high revving performance engine not and old xr......while I have been tempted by many four strokes my dealer reminds me of the rebuild costs etc...and I continue to stick to the tried and true two stroke.....a good dealer should be able to help and the fe may not last any longer any ways.....
